Southern Indiana Comic book Show Aug 20th. 1 1

Our 2nd show is Aug 20th after our first one in May. 18 dealers with 36 tables of comics and related items. Free Admission and Free Parking.
I will be marketing to larger cities this time around. Last show was 300 to 400 estimated so I would like to get the numbers higher. 
See flyer below as well as Facebook page for show. I am not yet accepting new dealers yet as I finalize current spots for existing
dealers. Anyone near me that wants some flyers PM me and I will mail you some out.

I am now able to advertise for Dealer spots. I have 5 spots  3 spots open out of 18 currently. 
Please PM me if you are interested. See maps below for what spots are open. 

If you are looking for 2 spots I can probably re-arrange a bit to fit get 1 dealer two
spots in one area. Each spot is 16 feet with 2 tables and some space in between
for rearrangement. 

Feel free to contact @Azkaban or @Mike Bray @Tony S you would like to know what the 
last show was like as all 3 were dealers at last show. 

Ignore Tony complaining about the 10 AM show start.

I didnt realize the next one was coming up so soon

As I can I am going to do it twice a year I think.  Reception was really well locally. If not for conflicts
I would have only lost 1 or two dealers I think for 2nd go around. I am branching out to larger cities
this time to increase attendance this time so I can expand to add a few more dealers next time if
demand is still good. Just tired of driving to other cities smaller then mine for conventions with a 
small amount of dealers. This way I get best of both worlds.

We are 6 weeks out. Digital sign starts this week. 17 dealers currently so we are 1 shy. Be interesting to see
if I fill the last spot or not. 

Working out a deal with new coffee shop to maybe come down and set up coffee for attendees as well.
Might help @Tony S not be so grouchy in the mornings. 

Facebook page has grown by about 25% since last show so hopefully a good sign. 

Mailing out last set of flyers to shops this week. Locally all shops but one are displaying 
flyers and 11x17 posters in windows. Big thanks to @Mike Bray for the help.

I think you will also have one more dealer that will have GA he is from your area up there and is driving down.

Same I just finished another box last night. I bought modern bags by accident so I have to cut 
some of SA boards for some modern books 

There will be a ton of books at this show I know I am bringing like 25% more this time.

Twice a year running your convention is a lot of hard work for your team. Your flyer looks good too with the QR code for extra marketing boost. Congrats.

Thanks we are ready I think, even ahead this time I think.

Its a lot of work, but when you like what you are doing it blends in well together. Alot of dealers in my area
have been very helpful including all my local comic shops, but one who refuses to help/advertise with the
show so I give him no promotion at all.

I took this as a challenge because I was tired of paying money for conventions that had very limited dealers. I was
determined to prove this was do able and spent months scouting locations and advice from local dealers as well.
I have advertised at any local shop within 90 miles and every facebook site, local shops now call me when they
need more flyers as well. Next year I plan to do more work on a better web site and maybe some targeted
advertising in large cities. It helps that I know every local shop owner just about in a 90 mile radius of my town.

I am happy with the flyer now finally locally its popular. Even a sign shop was impressed after I told them I made it 
in excel lol.

It seems a lot of people in my area are the same way concerning shows.  If this one goes well I am discussing with the
venue how we can expand. There have been headaches, but I've been fortunate to work around most of them.

And I get to look at books first so you can't beat that perk. I buy the dealers pizza and bring some water as well as
some donuts for breakfast so I make it as easy as I can and not go broke. 

What's funny sometimes are the dealers. Apparently many promoters treat them like dirt so there they are happy to 
be making some money and several are huge fans so they just love having a show close.  At the end of the day you 
take a deep breath and realize you did all this and you smile. 

Then you start thinking about what you need to do next. It keeps my mind busy and strangely my wife has enjoyed me
telling her about it. 

Now back to boarding and bagging more books.

Sorry we're going to miss it. The wife is still testing positive, and while I'm up and running, I'm wearing out quickly, so we're just going to relax at home this weekend. Hope it's a great show this weekend!
