A significant portion of my collection looks like this: whats the story? i'm a big mystery in space/strange adv collector. I was picking up as many as I could around 6 years ago because i knew they were undervalued and it has paid off big time. These books still have room to grow-DC blew away marvel in the sci fi dept hiring actual sci fi writers like edmond hamilton and otto binder to write em. the art was also top notch with infantino and whatnot. marvel mainly went with the monster of the week. 1950's war comics and Kevin.J

Your upgraded copy wouldn't fetch the same price but it should give you a ballpark of your book's value - $750-$900 kav
Popular Post kav
i met some girl and got her number called few days later and she invited me over. She then proceeded to pull a Cindy on me and after 30 minutes of sitting there while she yakked on the phone I got up to leave. "Oh are you leaving?" "Yes I had a great time but I think I'll take off now" She called me 3 days in a row but I never picked up the phone. Axe Elf
As a relative newbie to the hobby, I'm legitimately shocked at how many of these are, and how proudly they are posted! I've accepted some pretty raggy EERIEs and other Warren mags at times, but I'd have to draw the line at 3 holes punched in the book. That just does NOT present well AT ALL! ...to me, but hey, if your books give you pleasure...

I think I'm more bothered by writing on the cover, which a lot of people don't seem to mind at all, and which seems to be a lesser grade reduction. I've seen some that were obnoxious, but I don't mind a small unobtrusive date or something like that. Some kid's name would bother me. But I'd actually pay a premium for that "six to midnight" Batman cover...
Popular Post chevalmeow
Seeing many Planet Comics in pretty beat condition going for some stiff prices. So, for me a couple of clean cut holes on an otherwise nice condition comic is great with me. PopKulture, Kevin.J, Hiro and 7 others

zzutak
Now that's a wild back cover! Almost certainly made with a hand-held device known as a railway ticket punch. Most had a maximum reach of 1" (which would explain why the punched holes are only in the margins of the unbound edges). But why? My guess would be mindless boredom, with no special purpose. Thanks for sharing something I've never seen before! southern cross

Defects are in the eye of the individual beholder. Personally, the things that bother me are pretty severe. I don’t buy brittle, rat chewed, moldy or books with severe tape. Everything else is on a case by case basis and depends on the rarity and price. A lot of GA books are so rare that one cannot be too picky if they want to own a copy at all. The HP books in my collection were all bought because of the condition other than the holes and always at a super low price. I think the reason they survived so nice is they were always protected in a binder and not moved around. Am I proud of the holes? No, but I am proud to own some otherwise beautiful books that I might not be able to afford otherwise. A significant portion of my collection looks like this: I once was at an auction and there were several boxes of atomic age and pre code books like this some were 3/4th covers as well. Came from a drug store and forgotten in the back room. An amazing stash of great reading books. Was the only bidder and probably paid around 25 cents each or a little less. Took me a long time to read and figure out what the issues were. Had a blast with them. I have since replaced most with better copies but probably still have some left in my collection. These are for folks on a budget with a true love of the medium not just “investment”… Kevin.J, ThothAmon, grendelbo and 1 other
