So 1957 comes to a close....

And we learn that... 

Contrary to how it's portrayed, Jack Kirby is actually going through a tremendously prolific period in his career, and getting plenty of work from DC Comics, has yet another hit with the Challengers of the Unknown, is getting work from Harvey Comics, and even some occasional work from Crestwood. 

Contrary to how it's portrayed, Steve Ditko is also in an incredibly prolific period in HIS career, getting plenty of work from Charlton. 

Atlas is reduced to being one of the smallest publishers in the market, due to their restrictive.... contract? Did they have a restrictive contract? Or is that something repeated year after year with no real proof of actual existence? In 1958, I'll begin to show how that never seems to add up... maybe Goodman just WANTED his comic division downsized...

A LOT more to come in 1958... I know you can't wait!

This is one wacky post as you insinuate that Kirby came up with the idea for the Living Eraser. Aside from the fact that Kirby's supposed "prototype" (1) was not a supervillain, (2) appeared in a relatively obscure Harvey comic that Stan Lee likely never read, and (3) bears no resemblance to the Marvel villain the "Living Eraser" in powers (Kirby's character erased himself not others), look or feel, there's a major flaw in your "prototype" analysis that appeared 10 years ealier in 1949 in one of the popular superhero titles ever published:

You try waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to hard to minimize Stan Lee.  If you are going to play the comic historian, at least try to be academic not outcome oriented in your fanciful "arguments."

Joe Maneely did a story in Gangbusters #61 (Ruben Moreira cover)....

 

With Artie Simek lettering! So even Atlas/Marvel's best letterer was looking elsewhere for work after the implosion.
