no, no, CGC has caught that before, it doesn't work, and or, would not be something to promote :shy:

I know of at least 2 copies personally where they have not spotted it.  But yeah I do agree if the tattooz was originally removed haphazardly.  Seem to me risk worth the reward especially on a 9.8.

it's why I don't own multiple copies either. I was satisfied with a raw for $30 that I sent in that came back only 7.0, but that said:

I looked with a flashlight and didn't see it in my copy, but didn't really know what I was looking for in size as a noob. I eventually saw that it had it, but when graded they originally had it as qualified green, to which I called and they checked again and it came back 7.0 universal. :pullhair:

it's just too much for my tastes to deal with idk

Yep, grab a 9.6 or 9.8 crack it out then insert a tatooz from a FF252 (or some copies of; Marvel Tales 149, GI Joe 9) then resubmit.  It's farcical!   What i want know is why a 238 submitter bothers to send it to CGC without adding another tatooz first? Carelessness in not seeing it was missing? Laziness? Lack of Knowledge??

I think we discussed this in the other ASM 238 thread. A professional restoration expert tried to insert the tattooz and CGC still caught it. Very hard to attempt and not worth the time.

I will attempt to find out more about the 2 I was shown - perhaps just an anti-cgc "tall-tale" by the individual?

The Tattooz can be removed without much damage to the insert, the insert could just be completely removed, or anything between those extremes could happen.

This is the reality depending on the book and the person doing the work.

This not a great example. The tatooz insert in the ASM 238 and the FF252 are (jn my copies were) not bound in by the staple.

To clarify, the envelope containing the tattoos usually remains.  The majority of cases I've seen still have the envelope but with no tattoos inside.

That's correct, as Lazyboy points out every production variable you can think may happen, did.

Personally, I think CGC should do away with any "missing" stigma for items/extras that were meant by the publisher to be removed unless it destroys the integrity of the comic book, e,g. cut-out Marvel Value Stamps or "in-page" coupons. IMHO, the other items are superfluous to value.

Sure they are. Or at least were meant to be, but the realities of mass production means not all were. The same is true of many other inserts over the years.

I guess the 5 or 6 copies of each I had were "outliers" (just like my high sales prices):roflmao:
