Jimco75
I have a mid-grade (probably 4.5-5.5) G.I. Joe #1that I was thinking of sending in for the Larry Hama signing. It also has a detached centerfold. The staple holes are present so it wasn't a printing error. It presents pretty well all things considered. Any thoughts on how this would be graded/marked? Does it go down to a 2.5 or 3.5? Is it the centerfold mentioned on the label? I'm okay with a low grade, but I'm just curious what I'm going to get back. grendelbo
The detached centerfold is unlikely to effect the grade much, if at all, if the book is otherwise in the VG/FN range. This isn't the greatest example as it's a Silver Age Key, but... Overstreet would call the book a 2.0. CGC will do you better.

I think this is about the ceiling for Universal books with this type of defect and somewhat of a GA anomaly. Typically books in the FN range or above are likely to get a Qualified label based on the grader's discretion. But is a completely detached centerfold allowable in the VG+/FN- range? I think so
theCapraAegagrus
I'm doubting that it will affect the grade, as much as I disagree with that.

I think so Thank you, all. I guess that's the real question -- is there anyway to know if it will get a green or a blue label? Or is that just up to the grader on that particular day?
