Dillon Pham
Hi everyone, didn’t know where to post this so I thought I’d post here. I’ve gotten in a few books recently that I noticed have had a few barely visible bugs. After doing some research I believe they are book lice and I have a couple questions for the community. Has anyone had any experience with these? Could they have spread to the rest of my collection and got inside of my other bagged books and CGC slabs? Will they live on modern books or do they only like older age books? Is there a solution to permanently get rid of them and prevent them from coming back? Thanks in advance. Would dropping the humidity also be enough to kill the bugs that are currently here? I’m worried that the ones that are already here might be able to damage my books while they’re still alive. Yorick
@Dillon Pham You can just go through each book with a wide brush and brush them out (maybe into a bucket with some pesticide). Most bugs are not going to get through a taped-flap bag. Welcome to the Boards.

marvelmaniac
From what I have read freezing temps will kill the book lice., I have never even thought about putting a comic book in the freezer and the thought scares me, however, when dealing with "creepy crawlies" anything goes. "Infested articles not discarded can be cleaned and aired or treated to eliminate booklice. Articles (that are resistant to freezing or heat) can be placed in plastic bags and either frozen (kept in freezer at 0°F for 4 days) or heated (30 min at 180°F) sufficiently to kill booklice." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1JtykOjDWGM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2JyKG1ejmlY Good Luck!!! It's probably important to take comics out of their bags right away after taking them out of the freezer, to avoid condensation. comic_memories
