I see these too and would like to know what they mean. See the sample below with the "8 SD". With all the knowledgeable folks on this forum someone must know what these codes mean.

Here is CGC's reply:

"In the case of prescreen rejections, the letters/number are an internal code that helps track the book as it is processed. They do not reference any reason for rejection."

Not sure I buy this. In the example I provided, SD could stand for spine dent. I'm not sure what the 8 means though. Using a magnifying glass I do see a spine dent but not 8 of them.

In any event, that's their response so unless someone knows better, case closed.

Yeah, I don’t buy it either and I get why they’d protect that sort of info. Could SD just be “spine damage”? But again, I think you could let the folks in the Spare a Grade forum take a look.

Here's photos of the book in question. All pages intact and no problems on the inside. Was rejected on a 9.8 pre-screen. I don't see how. Would appreciate other opinions.

Directly across from Nicole Kidman's head on the spine looks to be two color breaking ticks, there could be another one lower (or lint).

You're right Doug. I see them. Thanks for your detective work.
