Before Media Factory released the Pokémon Trading Card Game in 1997, Japanese media and publishing company Top-Seika released Pokémon Topsun — a special set of promotional Pokémon cards that were included in packs of apple-flavored bubble gum. Several print runs of cards were distributed from 1995 to 1997.

A complete set included 150 cards, with each card featuring one of the original 150 Pokémon excluding Mew. The first set distributed in 1995 featured a blue backing, while later sets had a green backing. Starting in the second print run, Top-Seika released 16 prism holofoil variants of fan-favorite cards, including a prism holofoil version of #006 Charizard. This card is considered the first appearance of Charizard as a collectible trading card and is the most valuable Topsun card.

This simplified version of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Card Game, released exclusively in Japan and Korea, was released to appeal to younger audiences. The modified ruleset introduces new mechanics, including unlimited normal summons and sets, unlimited cards allowed in a player’s hand at a time, and a field layout similar to Speed Duels among other variations. As of September 2022, Konami has released 15 sets of modified Rush Duel cards and nine pre-built decks, with sets featuring popular cards such as Prima Guitarna the Shining Superstar and modified cards from the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG, including Dark Magician Girl.

Fortnite is one of the largest eSport games in the world, with millions of daily users and a massive worldwide following. In 2019, Epic Games partnered with Italian media company Panini Group to produce the first series of Fortnite trading cards, which had 300 collectible cards featuring characters, items, and scenes from the game. Optichrome holofoil versions of cards were released beginning with the second series’ release. With Series 3’s release in March 2022, there are a total of 882 Fortnite trading cards to collect. Popular chase cards include Black Knight from Series 1 and Clover Team Leader from Series 3.
