...I feel Quantumania may live up to my expectations better than most of what Disney has churned out in phase 4. GotG Holiday Special looks like it could be fun though.

I wonder if Quantumania will be the MCU's "return to normal". I hope so.

I now find the idea of rewatching any Marvel movie draining. They've sucked the fun out of me, and I still haven't watched the shows and 2 movies from phase 4 - Thor and Black Panther. I just couldn't be bothered.

Man, those Phase 1-3 movies are so good in comparison to what we've got since 2019. There's drama and tension all over the place. The jokes mostly land. A simpler time, trying to tell human-driven stories (until the Thanos stuff ramps-up).

So good. Winter Soldier, Civil War, the first Iron Man, so many good films. Hell, I disliked Age Of Ultron when it came out, but it's a really rewatchable film, great one to just sit and watch again. Totally changed my opinion of it. Won't be seeing that with anything from phase 4.

I'm still disappointed with Civil War. The plot is as weak as thin ice, but the Russo Bros did a great job in spite of that.

I was also disappointed that the Ultron minion design was better than Ultron himself.

Yeah I'll give you both those points.

I watched a lot of the Marvel movies in recommended order over release order on Disney+ in 2020/21, then ran out of steam after Black Panther. I enjoyed most of them but never really understood the hype, as in how people rave at how great they are, and how each release breaks opening day box office records. Don’t get me wrong, a lot of these are fun movies but I’m like, “are they really that good?!”

I concur with the previous comments about the over saturation of streaming content. I am so far behind now that I just don’t have in me to even try and get back into this. I was invited to go to the last Dr. Strange and then Wakanda Forever by a group of friends but I told them both times I couldn’t make it. I really could have gone but I was afraid I’d be lost because I hadn’t kept up with the previous films.

If you haven't seen Infinity War and Endgame, you'll have no F-ing clue what's going on. lol

That said, I have to recommend that you take a break, and eventually get to Infinity War. I would say that it's objectively the best MCU film if it wasn't for a few others like The Winter Soldier.

If you don't really like any of the movies that much? Maybe you won't be impressed by Infinity War, and you're just done? I can respect that, too.

Disney really has a feeding the beast problem when it comes to D+.  They have 2 IP's that are on the surface very stream show worthy, but that is really it.  I struggle to name other IP's that could be adapted.  Plus,  they do not seem open to cultivating new IPs, or being more creative with the remained of their catalog at this time.  It may just be they are overly risk adverse and these shows are expensive, or they just do not see potential in their remaining catalog.  I am just not sure.

If you look at Netflix, Amazon, or other streaming services. They either are more willing or have more freedom to try different things. Disney's only stratagy is pushing out content based on Marvel and Star Wars, and again, it has gotten to the point they seem to be hurting those brands.

Let's use a tenet of life as an example; Food. How many people get sick of chicken when they get into the workout life? Every single one. "Too much of a good thing" isn't a fairy tale. Everything requires moderation.

I liked Winter Soldier a lot actually. I was also surprised at how good the first Iron Man was way back in 2008.

Yeah, I burned out. I can only take so much campy dialogue, in your face attitude and special effects porn. Perhaps that comes with transitioning into middle age? :preach:

If VFX battles don't impress you, Infinity War may not be your cup of tea after all. It's dramatic and the characters mostly take the story seriously, but it's probably 85% green screen.

If you ever get the hankering for a CBM, though, you've watched everything else up until that point.

I like it when a story is dramatic and when characters take their roles in a story seriously. It doesn't matter how many VFX are in that story, to me, so-long as they make what's happening on the screen appear real. That's why I tend to enjoy the DCU movies more, but Marvel generally got it right for me in the first 3 Phases.

Winter Soldier is still my favorite MCU film, followed by the first Iron Man. Avengers: Infinity War is up there, I loved the film.

My top three are:

WWBN

She-Hulk: Attorney at Law

WWBN

There were several entries I could not finish if a movie (two I  was really looking forward to were Black Widow and The Eternals. Tried a few times and stopped about a third of the way in on both). Same with the series with Hawkeye, Moon Knight and Ms. Marvel being shows I could only get a few eps in. I DID watch all of WandaVision but was very dissatisfied with it.
