PGM: ASM#300 NS -> De-Slabbed... New Grade is IN! 2 2

Acquired this slab for reasonable prices compared to CGC equivalents (I will not disclose exactly who this slab company is and I cropped out the label where I could, but I'm sure the astute crew you are will figure it out anyway).

I know some of my photos suck from glare and slab artifacts (I tried several angles and such), but what I am trying to gather is if it is worth it for me to de-slab, send to CCS/CGC as a standard sub.

When I bought it I had one viewpoint of the grade compared to the existing grade, but then when I got it in-hand, I was a little let down.

Some staple tears and heavy CB creases along the spine..

Top-right corner not too bad..

Lower right corner has a nice CB crease:

Bottom and top edges look decent, not too wavy, but certainly I see some mild fluctuations that should press out.

The back I could not get without harsh glare.. sorry ... it looks like a lot of debris/dust in the slab, but at some angles they disappear, so I think the inferior slab product is the culprit.

Around a 7.0. From what I can see of the label, I can tell what the company this is. Whatever the grade is actually on that label, doc at least 0.5 if not 1.0 off it then you’ll have your CGC grade (most likely).

Yeah, that was what I thought too when I bought it based on photos, but then seeing it in person, I am inclined to think it's down 1.5 or even 2!!

BTW, if I decide to de-slab it and send it in to CGC, I'll disclose the grade that is already has and of course, what CGC gives it.

I'm guessing that current slab could even be a 9.0 or 9.2, but hopefully not, but you never know with "F" gx...

I think you could possibly squeeze out out a 8.0 if the moon and stars align with cgc and probably a 7.5 or less.

I just could not in good conscience keep a P** slab in my collection.. so even though I'm going to come out on the short end of this $$-wise, for my collection integrity, I needed to de-slab, and I will send this in to CGC.

Here are the photos...

When I get it back from CGC, I'll post the grade from P** and then CGC of course...

Yeah, 7.0/7.5.

There's a lot of ticks and color rub on the back cover and some edge and corner wear to both covers. I just don't see it over a 7.5 after a C&P.

We'll see what CGC says. Thanks for the updated photos.

7.0 for me on account of the spine ticks and other color breaking creases. A c&p may help a bit but most of the flaws will remain. Still a nice book that will look great in a CGC slab.

I think the color break around that bottom staple keeps it out of the 7 range with all the other flaws.

6.5 if you corrected the rippling and a good dry clean

What was the prior PGX grade? 8.5.... so those that expected a historical 1 grade drop, you nailed it.
