When I read a book that blows, I pass it off to my brother. I usually give him something good at the same time, though. I've given him copies of TDKR and Watchmen, for example, to go along with s**t like Flash: Year One.

Not my secret but I'll out my cousin (who introduced me to comics and later passed on his collection to me) as he used to cut apart and re-staple old Marvel Tales to insert a copy of the reprinted issue he missed in the corresponding numbered slot of the actual title.  The back-issue market was in its infancy then and unknown to us kids; if you missed it on the stand, you missed it. But I remember he had a "coverless" ASM 6, 7 and some others that kept the continuity.

Dirty comic secret, eh? hm

I once paid a lady of the night with a comic book.  She was so good I gave her a near mint copy of Cherry Poptart #1.  I thought it most appropriate.

In turn, she was so impressed by me that she gave me a copy of The Riflemen #10.

My older brother left me his Amazing Spider Man collection after he moved out around 1984.

Probably around 100 books or more.

The next day I had a yard sale, sold them all for $10 and spent it on ice cream and pop tarts... because i was a fat, greedy 8 year old who knew nothing about comics.

He still brings it up at gatherings.

I never liked The Dark Knight Returns story or art. As kid in my LCS back in 1986 I kept that entirely to myself.

BTW: Still don't like it.

I thought the first two issues were brilliant, the art in the third issue wasn't anywhere near up to the same standard, and the fourth issue wasn't anything that special. I was blown away by the story and art in the first two issues, but my enthusiasm dwindled after that.
