Coverless vs Restoration
1 1

8 posts in this topic

I have a coverless copy of Wonder Woman #41. I've heard that you can buy replacement covers, and that there's restoration services that you can pay for to have covers reattached, but I've also heard that CGC will not grade a reattached cover and that you'll just get a NG. I've also heard that if I send it in coverless it will get an NG. I'm not sure what my best option really is.

I can't answer any question regarding replacement/replica covers, but probably an important point to mention is 'what are your goals'?

IE personal collection and just wanting it to present nice vs looking to sell and maximize profit etc

That may help get some responses with other posters.

There is a thing called 'married covers'  where you find another WW 41 (eg maybe an issue with missing interior pages) and use the cover from that for your book (you can just search here for 'married covers' and you gets get plenty of info)

The new cover must be attached to the book (ideally using its original staples, though some I've seen used tape) for CGC to grade it, and only then will it get a NG. If it is not attached they will send it back to you and not slab it with the book.

I'm not looking to make a profit. This is for my personal collection. I'd like to get it graded and encapsulated just to preserve the book.
