CGC label should be on the back

It seems obvious that a comic book is much more enjoyable (if it has to be in a protective shell ) without a grossly over sized, ugly pale blue tag forever intruding into the experience..

Does any color reproduction of a comic book include such a rectangle attached above a beautiful cover art example ?

Isn't a wall of plastic encased comic books, each accompanied by their tags something which could be beautiful but looks like

the Dollar Store's candy aisle ?

If such a tag is easily located on the back ( where it could actually be enlarged for even more info ) why pretend that the most desirable way to

display a rare, beautiful piece of printed artwork is with a tag ? And a huge, extra 20% of surface area tag ?

Are photographs and posters displayed with their picture frame packaging still displayed ?

It is somewhat nauseating to see comic books treated like coins where condition and the certification of the condition virtually subjugates the element of beauty

and in so doing introduces the paternal authority of the grade certifier. This ARTIFICIALLY elevates the presence of the grade certifying authority by

presenting the label in a way which actively competes with the artwork presentation... an undesirable conflict and intrusion.

What you're describing is a label that covers up part of the back cover which makes isn't something any collector would want. The back cover is part of the book and its appearance is relevant to the grade.

I cannot identify your concern here. The label at the top obscures nothing about the comic book whatsoever....you can clearly see the front AND back. What you are suggesting would mean that you are covering the back of the book up which, to you is unimportant but in terms of getting a clear picture of the condition of a book, is necessary. As a collector, I want to know (personally) that my Fine or lower grade copy has not stains on the back as this is a peeve of mine. Having it done your way would mean I would not see this flaw. Also, what about comics with wraparound covers? Obscuring some of the great artwork on the back seems much more of a sin when talking about the "beautiful cover art" as you say.

I think your issue lies with the fact you don't like the fact that your eyes are draw to a grade at the top first. And that is fair. But I think your suggestions to fix that are not well thought is all. If you don't like CGC, maybe it is not for you. For me, I like the labels of CGC above any other company, I like the clear grade and I like that I can view all of that PLUS the entire front and back of my comic.

Exactly,  so that when I set up my wall display all I will have are the backs of the books on my wall.  We can then play wheel of fortune and turn it over as the customer spins the wheel to see if they can guess the puzzle.

Lol yeah that does make it a pain for the retailers. I mean that could be resolved with some generic plastic labels set behind the comic to show the grade and color but that's still added work for retailers.

I think this label on back idea ignores the fact that I would guess that most collectors want to display the grade. Also there are frames out there that hide the top label behind a picture frame border if someone is only concerned about showing the cover of a book without the label.
