Popular Post frozentundraguy
I believe I shared some of these in the PB thread a few years ago, but we have some new folks here. A Valigursky cover Another Valigursky cover and .. a verse to go with it Spoiler Plague Planet The mission was routine said Space Patrol command chart that planets topography despite abundant sand the ship was sleek and the crew hand picked and when we left Earth the discipline was strict The selected crew was superb, but experience they lacked I expected them to display some tenacity, instead they cracked when the first of the giant sand worms appeared they bugged out of camp and just acted weird They had scoffed when I said the planet was foul and that giant sand worms were out on the prowl still it would not have been so bad if that fledgling crew had not gone instantly mad As they scattered they shouted it's each man for himself look out I shouted for that hidden cliff like shelf alas my warning they did not heed they were scared out of their wits and departed with speed So now I'm leading a recovery mission to pick up the bones and allay headquarters suspicion that there were more than giant worms at play that caused the crew to abandon discipline and stray off into the endless dunes on that doomed day I have found the answer to that planets power and I'm afraid those back on earth will fretfully glower as it was not the sand worms that doomed that crew twas tainted microscopic bacteria that rapidly grew in through the bottom of their spacemen's boots and infected their bodies internal chemistry leaving them twisted and entombed in perplexity Yet another cover by Valigursky Valigursky. Were the readers perhaps a bit spoiled who read this title? Valigursky Pat Calhoun, pmpknface, OtherEric and 4 others
Popular Post Darwination
New one in today, chasing Matt Baker art again. Happily, an all Baker interiors issue. Sadly, only a couple bits of girlie art. Sadly, only a couple of original stories (one's a Damon Knight). Happily, one of the reprints is JDM. Some creasing on the cover but otherwise in killer shape for a crime digest. Full spine, white inner covers, OW pages. Popular Post OtherEric
A big box in today from @Randall Dowling, including a couple digests that will make nice type samples for their respective publishers. Although I do wonder if anybody has actually read any of these in the past 50 years, or if they're all in the hands of collectors mostly interested in the cover art: pmpknface, Darwination, johnenock and 2 others
Darwination
That second one that he gave as a freebie was my fave in the whole sale. The first one's great, too. Robot Man, OtherEric and Surfing Alien
