Wow, that's terrible news. Very sad. He was a great artist. While I don't care for his work in recent years, his work in the 90's, 00's, and 2010's was amazing. He left us way too young.

Sad news. Planetary was a great comic.

This is very surprising and quite sad.  His work on Astonishing X-Men in the early 2000's helped pull me back into comics.  Going even further, he was a headlining guest at the first major convention I ever attended (Wizard World Texas 2008).  He was very friendly and even did a few sketches for me for waiting in his line through his panel.  This is still one of my favorite books for sentimental reasons:

He'll be missed.

Damn. Now I feel bad for disliking his recent style change. 

I'll always love his Astonishing X-Men run. The story was spotty in places, but you'd never know by the art. John kept it solid the whole way through, not a single bad page. 

The man deserved better than this. 

May he rest in peace.

Reported to be a heart attack, that led to hypoxia and brain damage.

So Darth left us, and all we have left from this and other threads of R.I.P. are the memories of peace and joy found from therein, it will take some peace and quiet to find calm in this storm.
