5 Simple Rules (Please, please read)

:rulez:

1st :takeit: wins; tie/indeterminate goes to the thread.

Payment is Check or Money Order (yeah, yeah I know I'm a dinosaur, troglodyte, luddite, mennonite, hermaphrodite etc. - I just don't have or want e-payments.)

Shipping: Via USPS Priority mail is $10 for a flip n ship mailer inside a Legal Flat Rate envelope. Stacks beyond its capacity go in a Medium Priority Box for $18. (Slight adjustment based on actual cost for shipping to Canada.)

Don't be listy (tsk) including the little one in my head.

Returns: Sure, just notify me within three days of receipt and get it back to me in the same shape on your dime.

(Kudos thread linked under my avatar.)

So I get this call from a woman who says she has no idea how she got my number (my wife loves this stuff!) but her brother was a comic book collector and passed away, and she would like to sell them. I look, we chat, she’s clearly a knowledgeable comics reader.
My sense was she wanted them all gone at once, as it made detaching from them emotionally easier than doing it several times, so we worked it out. There’s a lot of cool stuff to read and share, and I am keeping a Manhunt #14 and Ziff-Davis Amazing Adventures #1, but it’s mostly copper independent runs that will make great reading. I’ll share those in another threat a later time.

But there’s a small stack of cool, older books, mostly Herbie, and I’ll do those now. If I did the whole collection in Mixed, the Herbies would just get lost. And Herbie is the kind of series where people either gloss over the thread title or zero right in, so I wanted to highlight them with their own thread.

We’ll start with the few other older books, then go backwards thru Herbie, down through his Forbidden Worlds appearances, closing with two copies of his first appearance. Like Archie’s, mid-grade copies are pretty high-grade for Herbies. There’s some nice ones here and some run of the mill grades.

:news: SOLD! Herbie #14. FVF. Fun ACG heroes team-up.  $20

(Fred D. Smith III is likely the original owner; he is not the deceased collector whose sister I acquired these from.)
