I cross referenced with all the info I could find from old auction catalogs,

the web, etc. etc. It's a work in progress but if there's interest I'll post

other runs as well (also did Marvel & Detective 1-100) along with updated

tables for the 3 other titles. If anyone can help fill holes in the pedigree

info, I'd appreciate your help.

My hope is that these lists will help answer questions like "what fraction

of the Church copies are the best exisiting?", "is Allentown or San

Francisco the more attractive of the two?", and "should I believe the seller

who is telling me that almost all Larsons are higher grade than Recil Macons?".

People have been making sweeping generalizations/statements about these

issues for decades - it would be nice to have some hard numbers to back

up/refute such claims. With the current state of the CGC census and the huge

amount of pedigrees offered in the last few years, I believe all the info is

finally available to cut through the bs and answer these questions.

I did some research in January about Church and Rockford pedigrees, based on data available from heritage archives.

Started it just out of curiosity, but managed to do a nice statistical diagram.

Info is outdated now, but I hope to do a "complete" pedigree database in future.

Here's a graph:

Mile High Vs. Rockford

Thanks, Arty, that's very interesting - exactly the direction I would like

to go. I'll try to finish up my own little survey for those 5 titles... Am still

not sure what kind of data are most useful; this little exercise was meant

to help clarify that. One issue with your comparison is that the different

pedigrees contain issues from different periods? I am trying to get around

that by comparing issues only from the same titles/#s. All depends on what

questions you are asking, I guess... If you want to do more studies, I'd be

glad to help.

I think that when info is typed into a good database program, it's easy to do different comparisons between pedigrees: pedigree "quality" (like my little study) and comparisons between individual titles/issues (like your survey)?

Maybe Microsoft Access is sufficient program? I only used exel-type of program which was wery limited and updating my list is practically impossible.

If anyone can tell what kind of program I should use? Searchable database with graph output is what I'm looking for.

Edit: nearly forgot, I also did a small

Larson pedigree study

I wanted to see what was a median grade of those pedigrees.

Btw just found out yesterday that in terms of quality San Fransisco is nearly equivalent of Mile High. (Heritage's database is full of white paged NM copies)
