Bendis Daredevil

17 posts in this topic

Well....I know I couldn't be any more late on this one, but I finally picked up the DD trades written by Bendis w/ art by Maleev. I just have to say, this is one great run! I added DD to my subscription list b/c of this. I hope that both stay on for awhile as the stroy and art compliment each other so well.

Bendis has really shaken up DD's world, and I really like the direction the character has taken (I've only read up thru #31, and can't wait to see how DD deals w/ his identity being revealed).

Also, I had seen pics of Maleev's art before, and was never impressed by it. But, coupled with Bendis' writing, the artwork is absolutely stunning. I cannot think of a book (besides Bullets) where the artwork captures the feel of a story so well. Maleev's version of "Hell's Kitchen" really does remind you of Hell! Dark, grim, and moody. I can't wait to meet him in Philly! He really is a fantastic artist!

Well, now that Bugaboo's 'secret origin' is no longer secret -> Bugaboo Origin (third message bottom sentence) a pic wouldn't do that much harm laugh.gif

Now that would be a nice scoop...And yes Galactus went back on his word when Golden Oldie offered him some Twinkies in a Marvel Team-Up...

And anyone that's a bit savvy around computers can dig up the online board-picture archive stashed away on these servers, you should see the huge amount of pictures they have in those directories.

Even the very first Methusaleh ones...of course you have to get your hands dirty and dig through a bunch of (gulp) coin pictures to find the juicy stuff :893blahblah.gif:

Funny you should mention that. That thought did cross my mind! Where has ol' Jens been? I'm sure JC would love to "debate" him again! shocked.gif

Once again Chris - you pick up in tPB instead of the real issues from your local hook up -ME! WTF? Damn lush, once you wake out of your stupor and realize you need the real issues, lmk...fokker....

I gotta support my local shop, Deisel! I prefer the TPB's as I don't have to worry about the damage they incur. I try and loan trades out to non-comic folks to get them into the hobby.

And, it has been awhile since I woke up on the streets of Adam's Morgan half-lit! I've been dry for over a week!

Can I buy moderns from you in lieu of child support for "Little Chrisco"...er...I mean..."Baby Deisel" 893whatthe.gif

That's it...you know the FCBD people are running a promotion (pull a stunt in the name of FCBD or something that'll get FCBD attention) to enter the contest for their huge prize package. I was thinking of dutch auctioning you off , and requesting that bald, fat male bidders with a coprophagic fetish all bid and win a turn with you. Then we could film it and market it as one of those marathon porn tapes as well...all to benefit FCBD... laugh.gif

Welcome aboard! I've been singing the praises of Bendis/Maleev for months, and I agree that it's a truly quality book. In fact, I buy doubles of each issue so my wife and I can read one while another goes into storage. If enough people really cath on, Bendis/Maleev's first issue together should be significant, like DD 158 or Swamp Thing 21.

bonjour,

I haven´t been here in a while, but nice to see that somebody else likes Alex Maleev. The website I made about him needs some work still but right now i dont want to spend time on it because besides Maleev I found 9 other artists which I almost admire as much as him and partly more..in especially Phil Noto and Frank Cho are plain awesome, but also Kaare Andrews, John van Fleet (his covers on Hero are real cool), Joshua Middleton (sky between branches), Jeff Smith (Bone), Bill Watterson (C and H), Mike Mignola and Skottie Young I really like.

So I am thinking about taking the one site off the net and make united site about comic art(ists) I like, since I figured that I don´t like everything that each artist did. f.e. Phil Noto´s comic art is not as good as his pin up and coverart, Maleev´s art on Superman vs Batman I like less than on DD, Frank Cho´s art on Cavewoman is good but I don´t like the theme, Mignola I just like on Hellboy (and B.P.R.D) and so on and so on..

Jens
