I have a box of around 50 of them. Are these like Whitman variants?

I think there's a unsettled debate on whether these are variants or reprints or what. But yeah, they are identical to the regular DC edition except for the cover changes of (usually) replacing the DC logo with Whitman and eliminating the issue number and price from the cover.
