Personally i prefer getting the old books signed. I can basically get any modern in any grade by any artist these days. Don't get me wrong I like em but there is something about getting one of the old school guys to sign a childhood favorite. If it's a book i love, then it will be less tempting to sell it later. I'm in the SS program for the love of the combining my favorite two hobbies, auto's and comics.

I remember when i used to get comics signed and people would scream how could you get the cover written on, it's ruined. Now look at all the ruined keys smile.gif

Cracked this at the Paradise con & got Perez & Layton to sign it. Probably going to come back an 8.5 after Perez got through with it....but I couldn't care less. Being able to meet both that day & shoot the [embarrassing lack of self control] while having them sign the book was priceless. cloud9.gif

Also cracked this out for Perez...

Pretty sure Jim(cgcworld) has a pic of me cracking the book out of the slab. Apparently he has never cracked one before...and was in complete horror as I pried the thing open on our convention table.

A couple people browsing next door had the same look on their faces. 27_laughing.gif

Thanks again Brian. Don't forget to pack the 111 as well

Shipped both this morning, in the same box they came in from CGC. You should have them next week. thumbsup2.gif

so when you send in the old label is it really for the discount or to let CGC know what you're expecting to get grade wise?

The book gets sent through the grading process again. The graders don't see the label. I get $5 off, and the census gets updated with the removal of a 9.4 ASM 238

I wouldn't be surprised if this book comes back a 9.6 with white pages.

From my experience, the old label slabs are the best candidates for cracking & submitting for Sig Series. CGC was generally much stricter back then...and grade bumps are possible.

Of course...the book could get crumpled & come back an 8.0....but that's the chance you take. wink.gif

Don't know if you care, but McLeod and JR JR did the cover to Uncanny X-Men Annual #4.

In the future shoot me a PM for your X-Men needs. thumbsup2.gif

Can I PM you if I just feel like shooting the [embarrassing lack of self control]? poke2.gif

Or feel free to PM me on other comic related needs also. 893whatthe.gif

Shooting the @#%@#$ also allowed. thumbsup2.gif

Hey, I'm relaxed, just living vicariously through you and excited about seeing a book I owned CGC'd. You have to realize I've never submitted before.

I'll chill now.
