rob_react
I seem to remember that book selling for at least 10-15% more than that last year during the Spider-Man hype. Has it really cooled off that much that Metropolis is listing it that low? I only ask because they usually are pretty aggressive when it comes to pricing high grade books and this seems like a decidedly unaggressive price. Considering the market for ASM # 14 9.2s has dipped back down into the $3,500 range, $9,300 might be very optimistic for that book.
Kevin76
Well Metropolis (my favorite dealer btw) Usually raises the price of books, not all but alot of them when a new guide has arrived,I don't know why,if a book didn't sell at 1500.00 what makes them think it's going to sell at say 2100.00? They don't budge on the price either,I've heard horror stories about people trying to get a few bucks off and not getting it even 10 bucks off the sticker. But $9300 is a very good price for that book,if anyone has the cash for it,i'd recommend picking that up..I would, but not from them. rob_react
Beyond the editorial commentary about Metropolis, you're saying that's a good price for that book? Time for a poll:
Kevin76
Considering the market for ASM # 14 9.2s has dipped back down into the $3,500 range, $9,300 might be very optimistic for that book Not really, I know someone who sold thier ASM 14 9.2 recently privatley for $4700,you won't be getting that price on eBay for it.Once you get into 9.4 grades on early key silver,be it ASM 14,FF 4 X-men 3 9.4 ect...there is so much of a difference between the 2 grades, one a book comes back 9.4 on some of those books i mentioned,it a whole new ballpark,9.2's are not even in the same league, just like 9.6's are not in the same league as 9.4's and 9.8's,you can pretty much count on double guide for 9.2's,since the 14 guides for 2800 x 2 = 5600.00 but even at 5K is reasonable but most 9.4 books bring at LEAST 4 times guide well 4 x 2800.00 is $11,200,so for only $9300.00 it's a great price. There is only 8 copies in 9.4,that's not alot.If you bought this book in 9.4 for 9K,come Spider-man 2,you'd be sitting pretty. murph0
I think people underestimate the effect of the Green Goblin on the ASM collector. If you ask many major ASM fans who their favorite villain is it's quite normal for them to respond fairly quickly with Green Goblin. If this book was earlier in the ASM run, like in the 2-4 range..this book would EASILY be a 10,000-15,000 dollar book. Since it's later on in the series, I'd say that 7,500-9,000 is a pretty good price for the book and probably fair as well. Brian

rob_react
The thread was bumped to the top so I peeked in to check out how the poll is fairing. 62% so far thought this book was expensive. With that in mind, I'm going to try to keep track of when/ if the book sells/ disappears from the site.
