Marvelfangirl
For some reason SA X-men is the last Marvel series I still need to complete. I finished #94 - #400 a few years ago but for some reason got sidetracked and never did the early issues. About 4 months ago I picked up a nice X-men #1 and decided to go full steam ahead. Slowly starting buying up the remaining books through to #66 and now I have most of the first 50 run complete. I go for the mid-grade books all the time, but got a little lucky last month when I picked up a bunch of about 20 books all advertised as being VG/F. Looked them over and one was a VG/F and all the rest were over...some way over. Those are some pretty nice books you got there (thumbs u

Arcade
Was anyone here bidding on this book? X-Men #1 It was at $51,000 with three days to go and then all of a sudden poof it ends. No way for me. I am the collector known as Mr. shallow pockets. If I were to spend 50 grand on a book, I better be able to drive it or live in it, or my wife would kill me. Flash105
There are a lot of threads discussing this list of keys vs. that list of keys and the one thing I notice is that silver age X-Men gets the shaft, especially number one. In my mind X-Men is the second most important book behind ASM. I know FF started the deal but I have always thought of them and Avengers as second rate compared to X-Men. I may be biased since I grew up in the 70s but I would like to hear what others think.

I love the SA run expecially the first 20 issues and the last 17. Unfortunately, Stan and Jack gave up on the X-Men too early and never gave it a proper run. (Stan even admits that in interviews). Flash105
But will #1 ever reach the point of being a top five silver age Marvel. I know it is not as hard as FF1 or Hulk 1 but the demand has to be a lot greater. You are right about the first 20. There are some classic covers in there and issue 50 is to die for in my book. Flash105
You did a good job buying all of those raw and not ending up with any PLODs. I am not sure if 2003 was still the wild west but when I was buying in the early 90s it was definitely the wild west.
