yep, i look at em all the time, just like the art on my walls, but i guess i could just cover up the frames knowing that the art is there.

you take your books out and look at them often, gazing lovingly at the marker across the cover of your books?

I go through my SS books everytime I add another one to the box. cloud9.gif

I have most of my SS books displayed on shelves, so I look at them almost everyday cloud9.gif, and I agree that I want all sigs (writer and/or artist) on the FRONT COVER ONLY thumbsup2.gif

if you leave them out like that, arent you worried that the light will fade the cover over time? a local comic shop here had an amazing spider-man #1 cgc 7.0 on display under a spotlight in a glass case for so long that the cover is almost completely yellow now.

Well, I have them in a room with no windows, and we normally don't turn the overhead lights on in this particular room. The room gets most of its light from the hallway, which makes it rather dim. Does anyone else think this might be a problem? I do have the displayed books in mylars as well that cover the entire slab (but I doubt they really provide any light protection).

Poo, I'm kind of nervous now confused.gif

avoid direct sunlight.

So, from what I described above, am I ok?

I would say yes. As long as you avoid direct sunlight and avoid spotlighting books I highly doubt a room light or two is going to cause a problem. if you enjoy seeing them keep them out. I was worried about the cards of some of my sealed G.I. Joe's fading but I'd rather have them out on my book case where I can see them stored in some box and pull them out occasionaly. I figure my posters haven't faded and even though the material is a little different it should be ok.

Thanks for the opinion, that's pretty much how I feel as well. I love being able to walk in and check out my books on display whenever I feel like it (without having to find them and pull them out of a box). grin.gif

Hello,

Regarding CGC Signature Series, I've noticed some books that are noted" signed on first page with pen ",,,or one might have fat, sharpie, as obtrusive as it gets signature on the cover,....yet there it is ! yellow label.

How do collectors and dealers feel about that ?

For Example, a book signed on the front page by Wrightson...?

as oppose to a signature with a fat marker by Ditko ?

Or even a late Modern book Signed by Stan Lee, that he didn't even write ?

any thoughts ?

also, what about prices ?

Is there system for like a 9.4 cgc signature series siver-age item, that would get more or less money than a normal blue label ?

PS What about these markers that are used, that are not even archival ?

I thought I would post That I just got back a SS 9.4 FMOF 55 from 1969 signed in fat purple sharpie by Forrest Ackerman right on the cover. All he did was edit the book so he isn't even credited and I love the book.

kind of off topic. referring to my example of the amazing spider-man graded cgc 7.0 which has been on display under a spotlight for a long time. the cover is clearly much yellowed and faded now than when it was originally graded. surely if it was resubmitted, it would probably get a lower grade. yet, it is forever encased in the cgc 7.0 slab which wont change unless someone removes it.

perhaps this is not a big issue now because any cgc'ed book is no older than a few years. but what happens 10 years from now. the integrity of the grade becomes questionable depending on how it has been stored. how does cgc address this concern? maybe they should put the graded date on the slab.

Isn't he that porno director from the 70's?

he actually published a magazine for a while, as well. and had one of the single greatest collections of Hollywood memorabilia for a long time until he had to sell it all
