GL 76 -- HG Prices Still Going Up

2,418 posts in this topic

As for the sig lines being turned off, I enjoy seeing others books. As long as it's done tastefully it adds a little colour and personality.

I agree. It's always nice to see fellow users showing off books that they are particularly happy to have in their collection. I need to do the same eventually and also put up an avatar!

To each his own, but I come here to READ, not to be bogged down with tons of huge images - plus, I pretty well have to disable them, as there are a few people on here without any discretion and use pseudo-porn images in their sig that are definitely *not* work safe.

I can definitely understand how you wouldn't want your peers to get the wrong idea about what you were reading while at work. (thumbs u

I had no idea that employees at Burger King could surf the web at work.

Here's a hint Clyde - porn or even semi-porn on a company-owned PC and network will get you FIRED these days, and with all the immature, stunted-growth jerks on here posting their latest tittie-lady pics, I would never chance turning sigs back on.

Okay with 3 days to go lets get this thread back on track and ask if anyone else would like to hazard a guess as to what the final price of the Green Lantern #76 on Pedigreecomics is going to be. I think this one is going to be tricky to predict. One thing i will say is that i went back several pages and compared it to the 9.6 copy Pedigree sold last year unless there is something glaring on the back cover(because i cant see anything on the front cover) then it actually looks better than the 9.6 copy. One of the few occasions i actually agree with Dougs description of the book.

The average is $10,000 and I think it will go over $10,000+ because this one looks so sweet and the movie/blackest/brightest hype.

This is where I'm beting on :wishluck: before I started this picture mess :tonofbricks: .

$15000 would be nice because this is the best one to show up in along time and might be the reserve price.

Ive just had another look and im going to revise my original estimate and say between 12K-18K as i agree with keldog and say this is the best one to show up in a long time. Abosolutely perfectly centered with White pages and more deserving of a 9.6 than the last 9.6 Pedigree had. Im not sure how much collectors who want this book know about it so either it will go for a low amount or there will be some last minute frantic bidding.

Parkinson, any reason why you have upped your estimate?

Doubtful, the RM copy was just as nice if not nicer and went for $8K+ change. I think the days of $15K copies are over.

Justin i'll answer your question then i want to concerntrate on the Pedigree auction itself as ive got my eye on quite a few comics as the current bids are low and are possibly going to fly under the radar. Basically if you read my posts you can already see all the reasons i have given. The only other thing i will add is that you will always have collectors that will re-submit comics for a higher grade and also collectors that will have a book pressed in order to try and achieve a higher grade and this looks like a prime candidate. Someone did post that the Rocky Mountain copy went for 8K but there was someone(several pages back) who said that it had already probably been 'worked on.' Also im not 100% sure but there wasnt much being discussed about the movie when the Rocky Mountain copy sold but most collectors are aware that there is one coming up at the end of the this year. This will now be my last post until the auction is over. Good luck if you are bidding on anything.

Ummm... the RM copy sold last month. There is also as much reason to believe that this book has been "worked on" as the RM, given the sale venue.

$7600 reserve not met which is about what I was thinking. The reserve might have scared away a couple of bidders. It's finally coming back down to earth.

I agree 100% hence my reservations on this one breaking $10K when the RM couldn't do it only a month ago.

Ahem...................... :baiting:

If it is well centered with white pages, $7000 - $8000 would be my guess.

I still would like to know how many of the newer 9.2/9.4/9.6 copies are due to the press and resub game. We will likely never know, but I am curious to know how easy it is to do that with this book.
