I'll add my two cents:

Some nice stuff. Somebody has been working very hard.

From another designer's point of view--

I'd keep the home page to just two columns: the skinny one on the left and the wide one on the right. I wouldn't break up the third panel in column two into two small panels -- it clutters the display -- needlessly disrupts the 'descending line' and flow of the presentation.

The ads shouldn't be placed so that the viewer initially thinks that they have been transferred to another site. Make the banner smaller, place it elsewhere or make the CGC the dominant logo through size, colour or animation.

But then, of course, communications media is an interesting pursuit -- someone's Degas is another person's 'jelly nailed to a wall.' All in all some good work.

I would personally turn that banner ad at the top into a different format... Either into a short skyscraper banner at the right or a shorter wider banner (small square - 200x200) not at the top but still above the fold.

My two cents is - The design of the banner and it's clickables

are good.

The body of the front page needs to direct the eye around

the page in a smooth movement. Right now my eyes have to

go back and forth to get information on the page and I get

frustrated. The eye needs space to rest, right now there

is too much information in the space given.

The color contrast also adds to the frustration of finding

a focal point. A more mono toned color scheme will help.

If you look at Marvels home page you will see how "Not" to

design a web page. DC Comics' site is very easy in contrast.

Theirs is welcoming and easy to navigate through.

I believe you can have this tweeked and have it look

great. At this time it look like a programmer did the re-do.

Just my Art-director side talking.

I'm not sure what you mean by "the design of the banner and its clickables are good."

It's a standard 468x60 banner ad. The major problem is that it's aligned with the left column break along a vertical sight line which basically CENTERS whatever is in the left side of the banner. When that is a huge logo for Pedigreecomics or Comiclink, it makes the identity of the site confusing. (The CGC logo recedes in the orange field and does not register visually.)
