Yeah, it sucks. No comics through Media Mail or BPM at my post office either. I've given up selling big cheap lots. Probably just as well, given how much time it takes.

Isn't Parcel Post about the same cost and shipping time as media mail?

No Parcel Post can get much more expensive very fast, but it has almost a gurantee shipping timeframe compared to Media Mail which I've received 2 days after or 2 months after.

Isn't it covered under International Surface Air Lift M-Bag? confused-smiley-013.gif

This is getting more and more confusing....

What I'm reading is that Mbags CAN be part of an ISAL mailing but the minimum weight (of the ISAL mailing) must a minimum of 50 pounds....

The regular Mbag doesn't have any prices listed anymore for Surface. (which was $14.00 for up to 11 lbs)

Now it's $31.35 for up to 11 lbs foreheadslap.gif

At least yours is based on pounds. I have no idea how the pricing works for the other services. At least there is now a flat rate Global Priority box to Canada and Mexico starting at $22 and it can be insured. No more paying for Global Expressmail or whatever they call it now. Hope the box is big enough for slabs though. 893crossfingers-thumb.gif

Yes, there are some improvements like tracking for some international and I think heavier media packages actually got a bit cheaper. The flat rate GPM box should be the same size as the recently-introduced GPM box, which I think is the same size as the rectangular PM box. So yeah, slabs should fit.

hello all...

as long as www.usps.com is updated, I think most will be ok that do shipping, as far as getting accurate rate quotes...true, with air mail parcel post seeing a 13% average price increase, and the elimination of economy post (less than 1% of my international orders were shipped that way, anyway), I am a bit concerned how it might afect international business...as far as comics go, domestically, I have always shipped my customers via UPS ground (trackable, insured, and timely)...only my one customer in AK was shipped via Media mail/book rate...

small sellers ??

It's too bad they can't seem to deliver to the right address too often.

I know this will affect us bigtime. eGerber pushes all their International orders to us so I am sure I will get a slew of "hey where's surface" emails.

I expect that this will result in a loss of $1000-2000 of revenue each month for me.

Nah!

You guys think you've got it bad, I gotta be on the window working when people start coming in and asking. Up to this point I've had no training on the new rates and none scheduled.

It's gonna be a cluster.

Great news, considering the Post Office was one of the few (semi)government departments to return several billions of dollars worth of profits to the federal till the last few years they certainly are hungry for more .

I guess Bush administration supporters don't use slowpoke surface mail so let them eat Airmail, right?

Now if they were to tax cheap bastards like Paul Wolfowitz who made 400K UNTAXED last year while negotiating a 50%, 60k raise for his girlfriend they might actually make a dent in the Federal deficit one of these days...

I have always found Fedex Ground to be comparable to USPS media mail rates on large domestic packages, and a lot faster, more relaibale, and with gentler handling.
