Bomber-Bob
In my collection for 10 years but I just had it CGC slabbed. Just found out it is an 8.5 with White pages. Tough book in census with only one 9.6, one 9.4, zero 9.2, and eight 9.0's = only 10 higher than an 8.5 . It's interesting but with Marvels I desire the uber grades, but with DC, I am very happy with a respectable grade like this 8.5 .
JLA_ALL_THE_WAY
Cool sharp copy! And you just keep being happy without the uber DCs; I thank you, and my wallet thanx you. Ok, one more for today( I know it's not Silver, but it gets a pass for being a JSA crossover AND including the LOSH as well) ha ha Supes is getting hammered from both sides:

The thing of it is with few exceptions there are plenty of 9.4s of most Marvel books. Even on AF15 there are 6 9.4 copies.

JLA_ALL_THE_WAY
All righty then!! Let's shoot straight to the "WTFs" from the Clink auction: #9 --- 9.2 B $700? The lowest ever for this grade. The grease pencil date hurts that much? #20 -- 9.4 C $164? For a qualified detached staple? PC, I am humbled #41 -- 9.6 A $926? Almost 50% increase in 2 years (a 9.8 exists)? Again PC, #48 -- 9.4 B $391? Am I ever gonna get one (9-9.4s)...without having to leapfrog the GPA high? #64 -- 9.6 A $661? For crying out loud, Tim! There are 4-9.6s & 2-9.8s!! PC is truly King #71 -- 9.4 B $161 vs #72 --9.4B $331? Really? Kubert demands that much respect? #78 -- 9.4 A $312? Anyone want my 9.6 for $600? Free shipping! #80 -- 9.6 B $365? Over 2x GPA's high from last year...with a mis-wrap? #84 -- 9.8 A $655? There are no words... #94 -- 9.4 B $190? Last GPA sale below $300...Mar 2007! Hello, Neal Adams? Clearly out of the Silver era now, but Adams' 9.6 issues of #96/97 enjoyed healthy 100% increases. And the squarebounds just went nuts ($430-605...except for #113?). Not hating on anyone's amounts; just trying to make sense of this all, put it into perspective. What did I learn? All the research in the world don't mean squat. My head hurts. Any one else dumb-founded? At least my set went up a couple grand (for now). Rick

tth2
#41 -- 9.6 A $926? Almost 50% increase in 2 years (a 9.8 exists)? Again PC, This one amazed me. Yeah, it`s an old label, PC, and white pages, but damn! #41 is one of those books, along with #18 and #28 where there seems to be a 9.6 copy for sale every other month. #64 -- 9.6 A $661? For crying out loud, Tim! There are 4-9.6s & 2-9.8s!! PC is truly King I haven`t bought a JLA later than the 40s in 6 or 7 years. So, what did ya win? JLA_ALL_THE_WAY
Uh, let's just say I have plenty of $$$ for the next auction. The #48 & #64 got away from me -way away from me- and the ones I did get are later issues. Surprised you haven't considered getting a PC run of JLAs, Tim. tth2
Surprised you haven't considered getting a PC run of JLAs, Tim. I had a bunch and sold them, remember? The PC run doesn't go all the way back to #1, and it would've been too painful to get the issues in the teens because they were still owned by RR , and life is just too short to put myself through that kind of distasteful experience. kimik
So, how did the Mound City prices on the JLAs stack up? I am not a JLA collector, but I am curious to see how the DCs are doing across the board in this auction.

Here's my take on a few, for what it's worth. JLA 1 8.5 ow/w $7500 JLA 3 8.5Q $225 what is it with this book and qualified grades? 5 9.2 cr/ow $1850 6 9.6 ow $8750 one of the most overgraded POSs in the auction; I would much rather have Rick's Toth 9.4 copy at this price (in fact, I think this is about the same price that he paid for the Toth copy) 9 9.4 ow $2050 13 9.2 ow $325 14 9.2 ow/w $1300 wow, I can remember when nearmint was shopping his very solid 9.4 copy forever for less than this! 16 9.2 ow $1650 18 9.4 ow/w $650 weaker than other recent sales, but about right in my opinion 19 8.5 ow/w $140 20 9.4 ow $1200 22 9.0 ow/w $450 23 9.6 ow/w $1800 28 9.6 ow/w $1700 29 9.0 cr/ow $

kimik
Thanks, Tim. So, outside of a couple of books the prices were not that hot. I guess the GL run was the big one for higher prices as far as the superhero DCs were concerned then. The prices on some of the early SA Flash issues looked decent as well. Ryan, I should point out it's all a bit relative. For instance, the #6 went for over 10X Guide, so it's not like it went for peanuts. But compared to what the 9.4 copy went for, it seems disappointing. On the other hand, in seeing the scans (including the raw scans), it should never have been a 9.6 in the first place, and maybe not even a 9.4, so by that token it went for a very strong price. The various estimates I heard from other collectors based on the raw scan, before it came back from CGC, were mostly 9.0 with 9.2 as the absolute highest. Most of us felt the same way about the "8.0" Showcase #22 and it did not generate a mind blowing price either. There were imPRESSive prices on the "upgradeable" books, but I guess if a book looked soft the dealers/knowledgeable bidders present did not chase it. The prices on some of the early SA Flash issues looked decent as well. the price for the #9 was in line w/ the last sale and it wasn't a great 9.4 (from my vantage point), so that price wasn't suprising. i overlooked the #18, i would have been a couple of clicks higher than the hammer on that book. the #13 clearly looked like a steal, the #14, #16 and #28 were surprisingly strong. as mentioned, the #6 was pretty hefty for what certainly looked like an overgraded book.
