Classically trained painter Mark Texeira entered comics in the early 1980s. His painting process starts with a penciled layout, using reference photos or models to capture details. He applies gesso to a Masonite board, then refines the image in pencil, focusing on skin tones. Texeira adds underpainting in sepias before finalizing it with light acrylics to preserve the base tones. His notable works include Masters of the Universe (1981), Jonah Hex, Ghost Rider, The Punisher War Journal, Wolverine, Black Panther, Spider-Man: Legacy of Evil, and Hercules, spanning iconic characters across DC and Marvel Comics.
