also, i know it's not but it looks like a mailing label was attached !!

Yes, in fact the first time I looked at it I wondered if that was printed or drawn on!

An odd choice by the designer for sure. The Dell Four Color #920 this reprints has different text in the box which reads 'From out of the night... "GHOST of the MISSION"!'

That would be an interesting way to handle the subscription box on titles that had them:  Have text that would get covered by the label for the subscription copies but be readable on the newsstand.
