I wrote that when I had four copies I was willing to sell. That was obviously the second lowest rated one in my posession at the time. The other were a 5.5, a 9.8 and of course a 9.9. I write that on all my books that I put out into the marketplace.

What an awesome cover. A robot with a gun and a knife, and a kid who's about to drive a spiked billy club into the mad scientist's forehead. What's not to liek. The only ting missing is a hot chick tied to a chair.

We bought a house last summer and it has an in-law apartment. Being we aren't using it as such, I decided to make the bedroom a comic room. I am still in the process of putting it together, but I was so excited when I found this at a local thrift store. It was from "Daddy's Junk Music" store and was used for music books and sheet music. I put the white contact paper on the front to cover up the logo and stuck the stickers on there from my local LCS.
My rack is along the same lines. It was used to display calenders, and loads on three sides. Each facing can hold a dozen comics multiplied by 54 slots.
Yours is person_without_enough_empathyen for slabs.

First off, that stand is awesome.
Anyway, a follow up to the map display I bought I have begun customizing the blank/branded space on the rack. I have a little space left on this side and likely some reorganizing to do, but overall I'm happy. The other side is blank and I have no idea what to put below each rack yet.
Love what you've done to it. Are you going to cover the Rand Mcnally branding? Shame you can't fit the comics 2 wide. Maybe some cool paperbacks on the side to take up the dead air.

Along the same vein, I work in retail and all kinds of fixtures get tossed. I salvaged this one. It was a calender end-cap and displays comics nicely.
It loads on three sides and holds a ton of books. There's another on sitting behind the store right now, and I'm trying to figure out how to get it into the house without my wife thinking I'm preparing to go on a spending spree.

Hope this worked
Me too.

The newer stuff seems somewhat toned down in that regard, both covers and interior stories. You know my daughter is starting to get interested in Archie comics. I thought it'd be a good read, but every time I see covers there is some sexual theme or innuendo that I'm not sure it is a good book for her...
I've never nticed the interior stories rivaling the covers for covert innuendo. Then again I never realy noticed the innuendo until I started hanging out here.

It's never too late to acknowledge Conan fanship... or to become a Conan fan for that matteron these boards Conan comics seem to be an afterthought. almost never see them posted in the “this week in your collection” thread. he’s never discussed. he’s like a red headed stepchild. has he ever been popular on these boards? Is it too late to say "I'm a Conan fan?"
I hope not.
I'm still working ever so slowly on the first Marvel comics run (#1 to #125 or so).
Good to know, since I'm a new convert at 53 years of age. Loving a pile of Savage Sword's I bought on the boards.

What is better than getting a box of fun in the mail? A box of More Fun!
What's a "box of fun" go for nowadays?

I think restoration should be reserved for basket cases. I love the work the best of the best do to books that have no hope of being presentable otherwise.
-
I love restoration as conservation for collectors, but I loath it as a means of increasing monetary gain by investors. I guess that makes me wishy-washy at best.

Only Whitman I could find. Low grade, and not on the list, story of my entire collection.
-
got a very nice high grade copy of this!!! (this is not the copy, just an image. I am sometimes worried about scanning books to submit.)
Why are you worried about it? Harming the book?

By no means am I an artist, so this little sketch I did back in the day at my newsstand job (looking at the cover to Supes #75 newsstand edition, obviously) is, by my own standards, impressive:

I don't think so, it's in pretty rough condition.
