  1. I got high durring the Heritage Auction and bought this

worst part was I missed the "Cover Production Piece (DC, 1983). This cover scene, made entirely of pasted-up Photostats (there is no original art), has an image area of 9.75" x 15" and its condition is Excellent." note until after I paid :(

This is your brain on drugs.

  2. We bought a house last summer and it has an in-law apartment. Being we aren't using it as such, I decided to make the bedroom a comic room. I am still in the process of putting it together, but I was so excited when I found this at a local thrift store. It was from "Daddy's Junk Music" store and was used for music books and sheet music. I put the white contact paper on the front to cover up the logo and stuck the stickers on there from my local LCS.

My rack is along the same lines. It was used to display calenders, and loads on three sides. Each facing can hold a dozen comics multiplied by 54 slots.

    Yours is person_without_enough_empathyen for slabs.

  3. First off, that stand is awesome.

Anyway, a follow up to the map display I bought I have begun customizing the blank/branded space on the rack. I have a little space left on this side and likely some reorganizing to do, but overall I'm happy. The other side is blank and I have no idea what to put below each rack yet.

Love what you've done to it. Are you going to cover the Rand Mcnally branding? Shame you can't fit the comics 2 wide. Maybe some cool paperbacks on the side to take up the dead air.

  4. Along the same vein, I work in retail and all kinds of fixtures get tossed. I salvaged this one. It was a calender end-cap and displays comics nicely.

It loads on three sides and holds a ton of books. There's another on sitting behind the store right now, and I'm trying to figure out how to get it into the house without my wife thinking I'm preparing to go on a spending spree.

  5. You know my daughter is starting to get interested in Archie comics. I thought it'd be a good read, but every time I see covers there is some sexual theme or innuendo that I'm not sure it is a good book for her...

The newer stuff seems somewhat toned down in that regard, both covers and interior stories.

I've never nticed the interior stories rivaling the covers for covert innuendo. Then again I never realy noticed the innuendo until I started hanging out here.

  6. on these boards Conan comics seem to be an afterthought. almost never see them posted in the “this week in your collection” thread. he’s never discussed. he’s like a red headed stepchild. has he ever been popular on these boards?

    (shrug)

Is it too late to say "I'm a Conan fan?"

    I hope not.

    :hi:

I'm still working ever so slowly on the first Marvel comics run (#1 to #125 or so).

It's never too late to acknowledge Conan fanship... or to become a Conan fan for that matter :D

Good to know, since I'm a new convert at 53 years of age. Loving a pile of Savage Sword's I bought on the boards.
