Skynwalker got a reaction from The Lions Den in [CLOSED] NEW DISCOUNTS! - EC Horror and more - Haunt of Fear, Shock Suspenstories, Vault of Horror, Tales from the Crypt, Weird Science
Absolutely. If I didn't know better, I'd say that HoF #24 was drawn by Wrightson.

This cover makes you realize how much Wrightson was influenced by Ingels...

Skynwalker got a reaction from RockMyAmadeus in Steranko Caps, Fury, Romita Spidey!
Actually, I'm eyeballing the 6.0.
I only like slabbed grades 2.0, 4.0, 6.0, 8.0, 9.4, and 9.8. Crazy, right?

By the time the book was published, Hitler had conquered Poland, Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, and blitzed Britain. I don't doubt that there may have been some segment of people who still liked the guy (and as you say, there is a segment that likes the guy to this day), and caused a ruckus, but at that point, I think it's pretty clear that it was no longer early 1939, and the world essentially knew where the Fuhrer stood.
In any event, Simon, Goodman, and Kirby knew where they stood, and made it plain...still nearly a year before Pearl Harbor.

Thinking people probably did have Hitler figured out by then. But a lot of Americans buried their heads in the sand and said “not my problem”. And truly Hitler has his supporters: the lunatic fringe was then as the lunatic fringe is now.

America's Best Comics #19, 2.0 $225
Book sits mostly flat and is complete, is missing the bottom staple and is the only one of the four with just a bit of spine roll/foxing. Cover and center wraps are still attached to the top staple. Remaining staple is rusty, but rust propogation around the staple areas is limited.
Book has some damage along the bottom side. There is a 3/4" or so tear that goes through about half of the book that was repaired with tape on some of the interior pages. However, the repairs were on the bottom edge and mostly in the margin. Also, the tape is still clear, so it barely affects any of the story.
There is what looks like a water stain along the top edge on some of the interior pages, but it doesn't affect the story. The cover has almost no gloss, but still has good color. This book isn't quite as supple as the others, but is still in good shape.

America's Best Comics #15, 2.0 $295
Book sits flat and is complete, but missing the bottom staple. Cover and center wraps are still attached to the top staple. Remaining staple is rusty, but rust propogation around the staple areas is limited.
Cover has some damage along the left side and there are 2 holes in the cover (as seen in the scan). There is tape on the interior of the cover that looks to have been an attempt to correct some of the damage.
Without the rusty staple and cover damage, book would grade in the VG to F range, as the cover still has good gloss and color. Interior pages are off-white to white in some areas and the book is still supple.

The Black Terror #10, 1.5 $395
Book sits mostly flat and is complete, but missing the bottom staple. Cover and center wraps are still attached to the top staple. Remaining staple is rusty, but rust propogation around the staples is limited. There is a 3" tear at the upper left corner, but it is on the cover only.
Cover is a bit brittle along the edges, but inside that, the cover is quite nice for the grade. Some interior pages are off white once you get past the edges and the book is still supple.

The Black Terror #6, 1.0 $395
Book is complete, but, oddly, appears to have been made with only a middle staple.
There is tape along the spine on the inside of the cover and the staple is still there, although the cover and several center wraps are detached.
