  1. Yeah I mean just pour a little Clorox on there and will clean it right off 👌. Ummm..........you better be careful here as this is starting to touch on the political side here. I said pretty much the same thing in another thread here on these boards, but made the mistake of using another 5-letter product name that started with "L" and ended in "sol" with a "y" in the middle and was promptly sent to the CGC sin bin by the overly sensitive Mod1 for a whole week to drive these evil and sinful thoughts out of my mind. My thinking is that if your Clorox suggestion doesn't work, you can always try this next:
  2. What a tease, thinking a possible 9.8 ☹️ Well, at least it's not on the front cover as that would have been a lot more prominent there. Most books with dust or sun shadows on them usually tend to have matching shadows on both the front and back covers. I guess this copy of 'Tec 38 managed to fare a lot better with just the back cover being exposed. Not sure about the grading nowadays, but I believe they were a lot easier on these kinds of visual shadow defects with the prior grading regimes, but the current one with Matt Nelson in charge tends to hit it a bit harder when the grading hammer comes down. Not sure if this is actually true or not???
  3. Soon to be 9.8 wait for it I remember when this particular book almost seem like a hot potato about 10 to 15 years ago with buyers reselling it after every few years at a seemingly lower price point. Looks like the last time it sold was for $107,550 back in 2009 after the previous owner had paid $126,500 for it back in 2005. I guess the current owner if they are the one that picked it up for $107,550 would be ecstatic atwhat the book should be able to fetch in today's hyper red hot marketplace, especially since it is still the single highest graded copy of a key GA book. I guess you really can't tell a book strictly by its front cover since this book was originally graded as being only a VF copy by Payette when the Allentown Collection first came into the marketplace. Of course, Payette always had a reputation of being a tough grader, but still, that's a huge difference in grading since maximaztion of potential was still a few years away from being known in the marketplace back then as the book was graded way back in 2002.
  4. Well, if you was doing a straight comparison between the Mask 1 and the Terrific 5, than that indeed is a definite shocker in the relative auction results between these 2 classic cover books. Though it would seem to be a low price on the Mask 1 relative to recent sales, than that Terrific 5 must have been an absolute steal at only $6,300 or $1,500 less than the equivalent graded copy of Mask 1.
  5. Looks like it's been awhile since the last posting on this thread here. Is this a sign of a slight cooling or pause in the Mask Comics marketplace as this CGC 3.0 graded copy sold for $7,800 or slightly less than what an equivalent CGC 3.0 graded copy of Mask 2 had sold for back in the CL Auction last Fall: https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/mask-comics-1-rural-home-1945-cgc-gd-vg-30-off-white-to-white-pages/a/7239-92061.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515
  6. Although this is a Larson pedigree copy, still a bit rather surprised that it sold for well over condition guide considering the slight restoration and the bottom edge trimming: Not sure why he would even bothered with the trimming since the originl Larson List had this copy listed as supposedly being in NM condition.
  7. I see press and upgrade You do realize that I am referring to the CC CGC 8.0 graded copy and not to the HA CGC 9.0 9.4 optimized copy since that one there is already a done deal at a record $2.22M price point.
  8. Well, we can always speculate where this CGC 8.0 graded copy of Batman 1 will now finish up at in the upcoming CC Event Auction, after taking the $2.22M HA Bat 1 sale into account: https://www.comicconnect.com/item/900235
  9. Although I am not sure how you can tell the difference between the two of them, it would appear that it's the Eldon Hamman collection that is now recognized as an official pedigree by CGC: https://www.cgccomics.com/resources/pedigree/eldon/
  10. Metro just lost #2 and #3 spots Unless they were the winner of this Bat 1 here and already have a couple of deep pocketed buyers (through their extensive connections) that they know would be willing to go even higher on this copy here. This definitely wouldn't be the first time that this has happened when it comes to Metro.
  11. I hope nobody here hit that big RED bid button by accident.
  12. Wow, the auctioneer just held it in his hands and the real life colors look nowhere even close as bright as the Heritage scans.
  13. As long as you remember to turn it back on by Lot #91027.
  14. Yes, it's been "stuck" at this price point since yesterday afternnoon.
  15. Yes, I still remember being dwon at my first SD Con way back in the very early 90's and while the rest of us newbies were running around checking out all of the comic books, the old timers like Geppi, Hamilton, and his gang were all flipping through the OA picking them up for what would now be pennies on the dollar.
  16. Well, probably Yes and No as it would most likely help to push this CGC 8.0 graded copy which they have in their upcoming Event Auction to a record price for the condition grade:
  17. Besides the slight edge chipping which is pretty apparent and the rounded corner which doesn't really bother me that much, is that just the usual wear in the red area on the bottom right or is that possibly a corner crease that's been pressed out? Then again, don't think it's a corner crease since it's not a straight line, but quite a bit of wear for a CGC 9.4 when you include the edge chipping on the right and small chip out at the bottom. Of course, the Heritage "real world" scanner colors definitely makes it look like a strong CGC 9.4.
  18. I think the sentiment was the same when the Batman 181 9.8 sold for $90K. I just think these books don’t sell in 9.8 really ever, and the appeal for these silver age DC keys has picked up some solid steam. So, big players now for these books in this grade. I mean part of me is in total agreement with you, and part of me feels like I can understand the sales. But yeah, $100K+ is pretty nuts! I guess it's nutty enough now for this consignor to give it a shot to see if this single highest graded copy of TOD 10 can also hit 6-figures: If I remember correctly, didn't this exact same copy sell for something like $85K in a CL Auction a couple of years ago? Or was it another one of these non-sales since I believe it has been listed on the CL website for the longest while at $125K, with no takers for the book? All I know is the buyer who brought it for only $4,370 back in 2005 was the real big winner here.
  19. I would be absolutely surprised if it even gets close to the $3M figure, let alone the $5M figure that you are thinking about. To tell you the honest truth, even a price point of $2.5M would be nice to see, but probably a bit of a stretch considering its prior grade. I guess we have only one more sleep to find out.
  20. Since you seem to be so excited about all of the action here, are you going to wait until the end tomorrow to place your winning bid in there?
  21. All I can say is that if you are questioning why it is not graded higher when it's already sitting in a CGC 9.4, I can only imagine how you must have felt when it was sitting in a CGC 9.0 holder.
  22. You have got to be kidding...TWO persons would pay over 100K for that book?...what am I missing here Mitch, Mitch, Mitch.................have you so soon forgotten your own thread that you started last year? Namely, the one entitled "GA COMIC BOOK Collecting in the Financial Crisis of 2020". Is this not what you were expecting when you started your big prognosticator thread here last year? In other words, a pandemic K-shaped driven economy where a large proportion of the population would get a lot richer with nowhere else to spend their extra monies except for online goods such as on collectibles auction sites while stuck at home suffering from cabin fever.
  23. What dealer? Richard, @MrBedrock , Richard; How could you.............and we all thought for sure that you were one of the good guys, just like all of us here.
  24. Well, if I can remember my Grade 5 arithmetic from way back in the day, I do believe that $111K with still almost another 2 days to go is probably higher than the $90K that the Bat 181 came in at with the first appearance of Poison Ivy. Then again, if my high level math is indeed incorrect, please feel free to correct me here.
