  1. Well, it would appear that buyers stand a much better chance of not losing their shirts and pants if they avoided the much overhyped uber HG copies of the Promise books, and possibly even their undies by staying far away from the even more overhyped so-called single highest graded copies of these Promise Collection books.
  2. I just so wish that was true, but I believe that I would be much more of a "one and done" type of guy as clearly I would not be somebody as brave or daring like Ritter with his Promise resubs or Schmell with his Dell File Copies here: https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/crackajack-funnies-9-file-copy-dell-1939-cgc-vf-nm-90-off-white-pages/a/830-91039.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515 https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/crackajack-funnies-9-file-copy-dell-1939-cgc-nm-96-off-white-to-white-pages/a/7192-92063.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515 https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/crackajack-funnies-9-file-copy-dell-1939-cgc-nm-mt-98-off-white-to-white-pages/a/40208-81046.s?ic4=ListView-ShortDescription-071515
  3. Simple explanation because if you check the CGC serial number for the posted Church copy (i.e. 1485124009) from a CC sale back in August of 2020, it now shows up as "This Item Cannot Be Found". If you check the CGCdata.com link below, you can see that one of the CGC 9.4 graded copies was removed from the census for the week ending December 6, 2022 and then replaced by a CGC 9.6 graded copy for the week ending December 20, 2022: http://www.cgcdata.com/cgc/search/comicid/2071
  4. And in return, I never ever get tired of looking at your runs of Fox titles here.
  5. And yet a seemingly overwhelming portion of this Promise pedigree was made up of exactly these kinds of long forgotten and not in-demand titles which were successfully hyped by the gang at Heritage and with the able help by the boys at CGC were able to market the pedigree as an once in a lifetime generational collection of books in condition grades that had not been seen to this point in time. Then again, I wonder if the bidders ever considered the possibility that these titles were not seen in this condition due to the possibility that collectors never thought it would have been worthwhile to have these types of books graded and slabbed in the first place.
  6. Ah yes............it's so much more advantageous to live in the land of the "tax free", as opposed to the land where everything is deemed to be a capital disposition upon death and hence tax to the max. BTW: With your connections when it comes to these books over the years, have you ever seen or come across the Larson copy of Wonderworld 3 in your travels and if so, how would it ranked as part of this trio of HG copies of Wonderworld 3?
  7. Are these the types of books that are readily avilable in grade and as a result, tends to show up at auction in various condition grades on an ongoing basis with seemingly no apparent end in sight? If so, I guess that explains the reason for the huge drops that we are seeing since it's a case of current supply overwhelming current demand. At least the one positive we should see from this downfall in prices is that the turnaround times for these books should be dropping like a rock and those much hated TAT's of more than a full year when FOMO driven irrational exuberance was driving the marketplace will become a distant memory.
  8. Will we be seeing these same two guys with their "mop tops" in the upcoming Heritage Signature Auction later this week? Is that YOUR hammer bid of $125K that's sitting there on top as the current high bid for the Promise Collection copy of 'Tec 140?
  9. Time for you to check your online dictionary as I believe you've got whale mixed up with guppies. I really do need to send you a link for an online dictionary as you've now got "correlate" mixed up with "inverse relationship".
  10. By any chance since you have it in hand, would your Allentown copy of Wonderworld 3 look just as "right" in an new equivalent CGC 9.6 holder?
  11. Just thought that would have been on top of the 10% standard auction consignment fee for CC and CL, but apparently no additional charge for raw books to be submitted to either CGC or CBCS on your behalf. As for Heritage, I guess it gets a little bit grey because it sounds like it's really much more dependent upon the quality and dollar value of your consignment.
  12. 25 Oh wow...........that's a pretty large quantity you have to send in for a screening and a pretty easy money maker for CGC for not much work. Do they all have to be the same book or can it be a combination of different books? Even then, I can't think of 25 different books that I would want to do a grading screen on that would be worth all of the time, cost, and hassle.
  13. Time for you to check your online dictionary as I believe you've got whale mixed up with guppies.
  14. No, it would not, because there you are ultimately submitting graded books. Actually, with Heritage seemingly being the apparent top dog in this auction marketplace, I am rather surprised they don't charge for this service. Besides having to do all of the tedious paperwork on behalf of the consignor, they also have to shepard the books through the whole screening for pressing and restoration review processes even before the books are finally submitted for grading. A ton of additional work when compared to already graded and slabbed books, especially if they have to contact the consignor for further instructions along the way. Then again, I imagine they have to keep up with the competition since both CC and CL also doesn't charge extra for this additional submission services on behalf of their consignors.
  15. The colors on this copy here are just downright smoking hot and simply glowing brightly like a flaming fire!!!
  16. Totally NOT surprised that there would be a much higher rate for raw books which they have to grade in-house using their own graders, as that would involve extra costly work on their part in terms of the need to hire graders. Definitely a lot more work than simply loading pics of already slabbed books into their auction platform. Any idea if this higher auction commission fee would also apply to raw books which they are simply forwarding on behalf of the consignor to CCS and CGC for their pressing and/or grading services?
  17. Nice colors as you had mentioned and on your overall visual POV, your copy certainly presents nicely relative to its assigned CGC grade. Actually, speaking of HG copies of Wonderworld #3 of which there are only 2 graded above CGC 5.5 (i.e. the Church and Allentown) to this point in time, I wonder when the Larson copy will enter the battle for high grade supremacy. Especially since Tricarichi had listed the Wonderworld 3 as a NM/M copy with absolutely no noted defects at all and I also remember Pat Kochanek referring to what he called "perfect Larsons" and listing the Wonderworld 3 as an example of one of the keys that would be part of this group.
  18. With respect to Wonderworld Comics #3, it looks the buyer of this once former tied for highest graded Jon Berk Church copy was able to successfully get it reslabbed as a single highest CGC 9.6 graded copy as a Christmas present to himself a few months ago: https://www.comicconnect.com/item/885353 Makes me wonder if they are planning to bring it back to market in its newly regraded slab sooner rather than later now.
  19. OMG, yes..............the dripping blood red former Jon Berk Church copy of MM 8 all cracked out in its raw and full unabashed eye popping glory to be perused and enjoyed the way it was always meant to be.
  20. Well, when I was a kid in the old days, I remember watching good clean fun cartoons like Beep, Beep, the Roadrunner where there was absolutely no violence at all.
  21. It's just so nice to see this copy get back its lost pedigree provenance from when it was sold earlier back earlier in 2002 and again in 2005: https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/superhero/wonderworld-comics-3-fox-1939-cgc-nm-94-off-white-pages-this-94-copy-is-the-best-one-available-according-to-cgc-s-cen/a/817-4132.s?ic16=ViewItem-Auction-Archive-PreviousPricesHeritage-081514# Especially when it's from the very much in-demand Allentown Collection and even moreso with only 135 exant copies, and a pedigree with no clear identification markings.
  22. I would tend to agree with you if you are using it from only a short term buying point of view. Being a longer term collector myself, I simply thought the same type of format would be useful for longer term performance tracking purposes.
  23. I believe he's just saying the chart would be a lot more useful if it was expanded to add in some additional columns for different time periods. Like other regular investment charts, they generally show YTD, 1-year, 3-years, 5-years, 10-years. So nothing wrong with extending the chart out (besides the ton of extra work) to cover more time periods since that would make it useful to more than just one type of buyer.
  24. Well, that's probably because with the time frame which this chart uses, it's really meant much more for the short term traders, as opposed to the medium term investors or longer term collectors.
  25. Isn't PQ determination considered by many here as being even much more inconsistent to determine than the condition grading is for CGC?
