  1. Does anyone know of a company what will provide insurance for your CGC collection? I'm starting to count and add up my key CGC which range from $1000 to $3000k individually. It's starting to go over $20k on just just 10 CGC key books. My home insurance don't cover this. Anyone know which company provides this for Canadian?

I'm thinking with break-in and theft it might be a good idea.

  2. what the heck is an autograph grading? is that separate from a comic grading or does it mean a combo of grading  your comic and verifying the signature at the same time?

  3. Well CS got back to me saying they are waiting for custom labels and have no idea when they will get them.... Have no idea what custom labels they are waiting on. More concerning that no ETA when custom labels will be available..

  4. So I'm looking at some of the copies of Spider-Man #1 that I brought when I was a kid. Basically I got into the hype and brought all the available copies that came up.

Looking at the break down now.

    Silver BAG -Direct

    Silver None Bag - Direct

    Green Bag -Direct/Newstand

    Green None bag -Direct/Newstand

Is there any difference between BAG version and none BAG version. I can't tell. How does CGC grade the bag version?

  5. Hello, it's there some delay in the turn around time for Vintage tier??

It seems like my submission been stuck in the grading/encapsulation status for the last 2 months back in November. Normally the process doesn't take this long of a delay once it's in this status.

I just read in another topic from another user who had a similar situation and he ended up getting his comic lost... :(

  6. Basically I got one regular batch for grade submissions. I have one CGC that I like to do a reholder on to get the new case than one that was over 15 years ago. I don't want to pay two return shipping especially since the return shipping for just one reholder is very high, extremely high. Would CGC be able to put the reholder into the same batch as my grade submissions on the return box if I leave a slot open on the grade submission?

  7. So I'm looking at one of the options in the primary service and it list Restoration Removal Service. What situation is this referring to??

Does this means if I know a comic has been restored and would like the restoration removed then I picked this option?

What if I don't know if there was any restoration involve but restoration is detected during the grading process, do I pick this option too to get it remove if there is restoration detected?

  8. I just don't understand how pressing times can be almost 3 times longer than grading time. You look at about 10-12 months which is like a year. For modern books within last 20 years I can go to a local guy that can get it done in less than a week. But for stuff in 60-80's I prefer to have CGC press just to make sure I can get the best pressing but that wait time.... my god.

What's so funny?? I never submitted before and want to know if the FedEx location is just a drop location or has people there to sign it? I don't want to be sending expensive comics to another country to some unknown location where it might get lost. I don't live in USA.

Here's the rule of thumb that I follow. I usually have a rough idea of what the grade of the book will be; it may grade a 6.0 when I think it is a 5.0, or vice versa, but I'm rarely more wrong than that. I then use a site such as GoCollect, GPAnalysis, or sold values on Ebay to determine the value of the graded book. Whatever I determine that value to be, that's the value I type into the submission form.

Base on what you wrote, you are submitting to the teir base on what you think the value is for the book after it get's graded not before. Which is why I want to bring this question up. How does CGC decides whether to bump the book to another teir or not? Do they base it on the raw value when I submit it or after the book get graded?

I know CGC will separate them if the value is different and charge the price of a different teir.

  11. So I've finally decided to start the process of submitting to CGC first time.

First questions although seem obvious I guess it can't help but to ask to be sure.

    1. Modern tier 1975 to present, the max vaule is $400. Is that max value of what you think is the raw book that you are submitting?

    2. Each book will be boarded and bag. Here's the dumb question. Does it get slab up with the comic inside the bag with the board? lol
