    Collecting the Prince of Power
With his recent surge in popularity in Incredible Herc, I decided to go for early appearances of Hercules. Man, who thought collecting such a secondary character would be so tough! I have managed a reasonable assembly thus far: JIM Annual 1 9.0, JIM 124 9.4, Avengers 38 9.0 Green River, Sub-Mariner 29 9.6 and my latest, Champions 1 9.6 Pacific Coast. I am desperately seeking out high grade Avengers 39 to 50 but the prices are getting ridiculous!! A 9.4 Avengers 50 just sold for 400$ on eBay and I thought I had put a ridiculously high top bid at 255$. Boy was I wrong... Anyway, I'll let you know how my quest shapes up and hopefully we fans of The Prince of Power can get a competitive set listed of Herc appearances!

great books & even greater frustration
Just added Thor 221 & 222 in 9.4. And I have bids on Thor 225 9.6, 226 9.4 & Journey Into Mystery 125 9.0. Found an Avengers 42 in 9.4 which is high on my interest radar. And found an auction for Avengers 48 9.6 which I will most probably end up bidding way too much for and still get sniped at the end. So is the life I suppose....
Actually this might be a good time to vent about a very frustrating thing that happened a few weeks ago. I was mere seconds away from owning a Defenders 10 9.6 when I got sniped (as usual) and then minutes after the auction closed the same book was posted as a Buy it now by the "winner" (a comic shop) 150$ higher than the closing (obviously some dealer collusion but whatever). I guess they didnt learn the lessons of the 90's where artificially inflating market value just leads to the market crumbling. Hope I'm wrong....

    Not bad, could be better
Montreal is not known to be a hotbed of the comic collecting world, in fact I have yet to find a decent store with older books. But when the Con comes to town, the bank account gets drained. Graham Crackers & Harley Yee were the most popular booths since they never come here and have real quality stuff. Found a long sought after Avengers Annual 1 in decent shape (VF+ to NM-) Completed the 2nd Thor & Hercules trilogy with Thor 128-130 (all look VF) Couple more Avengers, a decent 40 & a nice 49. Got a Marvel Premiere 15 in what looks like VF+. Not much in the way of high grade CGC books, a lot of the dealers were complaining of theft (gotta love Montreal!) so the good stuff was probably left behind. Everything else was pretty much an overpriced modern super-rare-ultra-secret-variant-sketch-cover crapfest.
Herb Trimpe was there but his seat was empty on artist row for the duration of my stay. Well it ain't the SDCC but it's the best available.

    Best Champions set EVER
Well i finally did it, after 2 and a half years of wheeling and dealing I completed the finest set in the world of Marvel's Champions series from the Bronze Age. It feels somewhat bittersweet because this mission has been consuming my collecting for a while and now I don't know what to do next...
You can check out the set with descriptions & pics.
