  1. Andy you're telling the story in a way to sway public opinion, but you and I know the entire story so if you want to tell half of the story regarding transactions that's on you. But you and I both know better. Refund sent

The other half of the story would be appreciated.

I'd be interested in it as well. Do tell, Mike. Tell the other 1/2 that I paid you in 2013, I assisted you when you said you needed help, was promised refunds but were never sent, then the moment that you think someone makes you look bad publicly, they get paid. Whatever it is that you think I "wronged" you, please let it out and I'll respond.

How am "I" the one swaying public opinion when I simply responded to probation discussions from TWO OTHER Opps that people were in that resulted in the same (no art and years waiting for a refund). A quick search in SS yields 2 others as well. So, again, feel free. I've left out everything but the Mattina Opp not for my sake, but yours.

And if you're referring to Michael Sta Maria, where I agreed to commissions on an "Opp" you were running and agreed to reduce the gross amount of refund owed to me by off-setting CGC costs. Then, the moment you learned that Adonis and I and Jun and I were buddies and spoke about the books outside our conversations, you tell Jun then tell me that you want me to sub the commissions under my own account thereby requiring me to hit 10 commissions for an approve-able Mail in amount. Then, it taking me about a month to come up with additional funds to pay for those commissions, cgc costs, and fed ex from the Phillipines to Florida. Sure, there it is. Oh, and somehow you think it's a binding modification of our "contract" for the Mattina Opp where you think you are deserved a $120 (was it) reduction of the original Opp price for further expenses that I incurred, you thinking you're owed $120 in relief for no costs that you incurred.

Or is it that you're upset because i acted amicably at Boston comic con because you were 1) witnessing for the cgc booth and 2) because my Maria books were in limbo as I specifically emailed Mike Balent rather amicably allowing it to appear as though it was a transfer of a private mail in as opposed to you ditching it causing the need for the three of us to discuss.

Andy please stop, you're twisting the story around. Again. I gave you your refund, you paid for the remainder of the sketches yesterday right before you posted here. You weren't communicating to artist about payment until this happened. And once you got all you could out of me and got your sketches done you cut me off and demanded your refund. Stop it please

  2. Any idea what happened? Did the artist take the money and run?

It was later disclosed/discovered that the artist never received the money. But at this point, it's been so long, I forget where that information was posted/came from.

Whoa, the time to remediate is crazy. Glad it's finally being dealt with. Certainly not the first SS sketch opp that has gone sideways. If the artist never got the money where did it go for so long?

How many people got the short end on this, and how much money total was involved?

The artist never recieved the funds, funds were sent to someone in connection with artist. Person stopped communication, Paypal protection was long gone. Had to pay out of pocket

  3. Thanks, Chris. I'll copy Doug's prior format.

I participated in the Mattina Opp (found HERE). The Opp was paid for in the amount of $360 on 1/16/2013.

On 4/26/2014, Mike began issuing refunds. I was second to pay for the Opp, but he did not go in any particular order (communicated in group PM). He communicated that by 12/31/2014 all refunds would be refunded. Mike has not posted in the Opp PM since 2/3/2015.

Last Mike promised, I would receive my refund within 2 weeks of May 28, 2016.

I've tried to keep things private and assist Mike in completing refunds for others (buying sketch covers from him when he said he needed money to refund people, forwarding messages left publicly and privately, etc). All while my refund was being delayed. To find out that Doug was paid (and rightfully so) nearly immediately after posting publicly here, that was just the last straw.

I have emailed Mike a link to this and posted it into a new private message.

    Thx, A-

    Refund paid in full thx

  4. It's funny how that works.

    Right?

I hope ALL the people owed money/sketches get an explanation and apology too, as well as their money (obviously).

I've been working on refunds before Doug posted doing the best I can thx

So what about mine? From the Mattina Opp found HERE. Last you told me, I would be refunded within two weeks of May 28, 2016. I've tried to communicate privately but if my refund gets pushed back to refund those that go publicly (those that are rightfully owed refunds), maybe this is where it should have been taken to begin with.

Hey Andy sure I can refund you not a problem. But while we're on the topic do you think you can pay the artist for the 5 sketch covers that I tried to help facilitate for you overseas? You have 5 sketch covers that haven't been paid yet where the artist is waiting for payment from the transactions. Did you want to deduct what's owed to the artist towards your refund? Please email me or text me thx

  5. Me too, I waited as long as I did because I really wanted to believe he was trying to make things right. I figure I've already seen all I will ever see of any of this.

Hi Doug what's your paypal? Will refund you in full by this evening thank you

My email is mjeter4@gmail.com please send me your paypal so I can refund you thank you

  6. Yep, same story with me. It's been 2 years since this op started. 1 year since a refunds were announced. I reached out to the artist and his rep earlier this week to find out what was really going on. Found out only 2 sketches were completed , and our requests were never even submitted. Basically we just signed up to give a 2+ year no interest loan.

I know Mr Mylar had family issues during this time. It's just hard being understanding and patient when things drag out this long. Not to mention the false promises and being screwed over by other facilitators that have disappeared.

As I stated in my emails and will state publicly I never said I was waiting for refund from Ryan or his rep from the Benjamin opp. I said I made an error from this opportunity and will be sending a refund

Not an interest loan; I had a SICK CHILD and left ALL opps to attend to him. Left job, left everything to take care of personal situation. I APOLOGIZE to you as this was my responsibility; I will refund you the money you sent me for the sketch opp thx

  7. Hello Niro and Juan,

Yes I've given partial refunds to some people and full refunds to others. Going down my list and giving out refunds as best I can, have given up sketches of my own to boardies as well to make good on the transactions

Like I stated to both of you before in the email communications I've sent to you both, I can give you partial refunds with the rest shortly thereafter. Doing the best that I can, have not ran away and have given you both my email for communication. Will be sending partial refunds to you both this weekend, my apologies as this was my mixup. Told you this in our emails, still sending the refunds, doing my best to send portion shortly like I stated in the communications I've had with you both this week

Ryan Benjamin opp 2 of 4 sketches were completed. Gave out 3rd refund a while ago and Niro you are the 4th refund

Have not disappeared; both of you have been communicating with me through my emails. Have responded to emails as soon as you sent them

Juan I am sending you a portion of the refund this wknd; you have recieved 1 of your 2 sketches you've purchased from my opps, sorry for long delay but it's coming your way thank you

  8. Laughing M4N,I am happy to hear that everything got resolved for you. I want to mention that I have been apart of 3 separate Sketch opps that Mike Jeter has offered and each of them went smoothly with great communication by Mike.

As someone who has run no less then 30 opps for over 7 years (link to my first sketch opp in 2009 with Mike Zeck can be found here, http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Main=169073&Number=3397612#Post3397612),

I would like to reflect on a few things you mentioned in your post:

I've no ill feelings towards Mike, I know challenges outside of the boards can drastically affect things and I hope things look up for him.

Yes there are MANY things we as facilitators cannot predict when running opps, this includes (but is not limited to) artists who face unexpected work or personal commitments. In some rare cases artists have been know to go RADIO SILENT; stop answering emails, texts, phone calls etc. In situations we as facilitators can only do so much in order to get sketches completed. Some methods that have been implemented to reduce this from happening include holding money in escrow until the pieces are completed. Unfortunately this doesnt work with all as some artists sill require payment upfront.

It was my first participation in a sketch op on these boards and an unfortunate one. I've had one sketch arranged and completed at a convention via a facilitator which was fantastic and likely to only collect these from the artists themselves as that direct connection adds a lot more to the experience.

Getting sketches in person IS AWESOME!!! However not everyone is able to attend shows. When I started offering opps on the boards it was basically for 3 reasons.

    1. I wanted to offer sketch opportunities with artist that were NOT attending shows. If you do a search you will see my first few opps were with artists that had not attended any show for years including Mike Zeck (who now is everywhere) Dave Simons RIP, Al Milgrom, Don Perlin etc.

    2. I didnt want to fill up sketch lists with artists at conventions with requests for me and client (hey I am a collector too you know lol)

    3. I wanted to offer higher quality pieces/ie at home commissions

I'm not opposed to sketch ops on the boards, but there needs to be a whole lot more communication from whomever runs them at all times. I don't know if CGC take on board how many of these get completed but I'm all good now and hope anyone else outstanding will be as well soon.

I cannot speak for every facilitator BUT I can tell you all MY opps and all the OPPS that I have been apart of (DarrellF, A-DONIS, Alphatrion1, THECOLLECTOR, DennisRodmanofSS) have ALWAYS had great communication. Yes some take a little longer than expected, but all were completed.

Again, I am happy you got everything resolved with Mike. But please do not allow your experience, in this, your ONE AND ONLY OPP, be reflection of all OPPS and facilitators who ru them here on the boards.

    -Dan

My sincere apologies to Boon and other individuals

I have completed many many opportunities here on the boards. I have come up against an unfortunate set of circumstances, but I've done my best to contact art reps, find out whats's going on with the outstanding books, etc. The staff at CGC has done an amazing job at getting books shipped directly in some opps so the boardies can get their books quickly.

Herb Trimpe---passed away; I'm working to get refunds to 2 customers

****Please do not contact Mrs' Trimpe or anyone related to the Trimpe art support sysyem. I will refund you directly, please contact me directly

Dell'otto--21 sketches altogether, some boardies did not pay their last portion of the group sketch rate so I was stuck with paying this out of pocket. Luckily a boardie offered to pay the remaining balance for these. This opp took a really long time, but last batch of books are currently at CGC

Ardian Syaf--went to China, when he returned he was able to mail these to CGC. These books are in my possession and I've been mailing these out. If you haven't recieved your Ardian sketch please email me at mjeter4@gmail.com thank you

  9. Last time Mike responded with an update in the group pm thread was the 13th of May after I'd stated I'd like a refund due to the lack of progress. He asked for my paypal address and that he'd made some headway with Ryan's rep and would pm details the following day.

Nothing heard of since... and I perceive there to be a lack of communication/updates and my private pm to him has still been unread as of the 15th of April.

I've heard of some challenging external factors but think enough patience has been extended after his last reply. I'm not the only one who's been disappointed how things have gone.

Ryan completed 2 of 4 books

2 sketches have been sent to their respective owners

Have gotten confirm that refunds for the other two sketches should be received by the end of the month. My apologies for slow responses and delays, will make this right for everyone involved thank you

  10. Here are the prices for Ryan:

2 character pencil with background $250

  11. So great to finally meet Steve(worldsbestcomics)

And Crain was like a ghost, I saw him for minute, saw the sketches then he dissappeared

Amazing sketches came through the booth from Crain, from Carnage to Boba Fett. Congrats to everyone that got one, kudos to Steve
