  1. Another GA beaut landed in my mailbox today. Not a #105, alas, but you can't have everything! And here's a handy pickup line from Basil Wolverton - "the only stimulant I need is you".
  2. I'm waiting on a box from Heritage. It might well be my last ever purchase for those reasons.
  3. Very cool book I've never seen before. Maybe a 3.0 - is the spine split at the top and bottom or just abraded?
  4. Anyone who has bought slabbed books from the US before should know how much it costs to ship them to Oz. The $20 surcharge is probably the new eBay 10% goods and sales tax for Australians that's taken out by direction of the Australian government. it came in on July 1. Was the book $200?
  5. And Australia - 10% goods and services tax applied after the auction, even though it shouldn't apply to second-hand publications.
  6. Great thread Frank. I'm really enjoying the reminiscences. The first book I can remember buying (or, more accurately, my mum buying it for me when we visited my grandparents in Melbourne) was an Australian Uncle Scrooge with a reprint of 'The Paul Bunyan Machine'. Probably not my first ever comic, but certainly the first I recall devouring from cover to cover many times over. I must buy one of those one day!
  7. When looking to see which book this Australian comic reprinted, I discovered that it was Four Color #413 and #669. I assume that's because the movie was circulated again. Are there any other 'multiple' FCs?
  8. Not sure, but there were some Church Four Colors for sure. Here's a couple of them: https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/cartoon-character/four-color-116-mickey-mouse-mile-high-pedigree-dell-1946-cgc-nm-94-white-pages/a/7189-93057.s https://comics.ha.com/itm/golden-age-1938-1955-/cartoon-character/four-color-94-winnie-winkle-mile-high-pedigree-dell-1946-cgc-nm-94-off-white-to-white-pages/a/7093-93135.s
  9. I wish. No, it was a scan I pinched from an overpriced eBay listing.
  10. But don't worry. It has been renamed these days. I think it's called 'Breitbart'.
  11. We interrupt the Cheetah collection to bring you this item I picked up earlier in the week. Nice Schomburg underwater cover and it's a really clean and flat copy, other than the obvious corner issue. Also a page tear inside where there was a partial 'siamese page'. But very nice to have in any case. Did you ever wonder where the ancient Assyrians went? Well, wonder no more. (Gotta say I'm impressed with Terry's ability to quickly distinguish exactly which ancient civilisation he's just fallen into!)
