  1. A less common surname than John Byrne's, which I heard mispronounced many times down the years as John Brine.
  2. The Wolverine Origins Uncaged Edition game on PS3 wasn’t bad. Quite gory.
  3. In New X-Men 118, I wasn’t looking for, never noticed any of these, until the details were pointed out online later… https://uncannyxmen.net/miscellaneous/sex-sells-new-x-men-118
  4. The artists might’ve claimed it’s just pareidolia.
  5. I’ve grown to really like Kirby’s later Bronze Age work. There’s something very entertaining about his unrestrained, over-the-top storylines and dialogue back at Marvel. No subtlety whatsoever.
  6. Yup. It would need to be a Frost Troll. In D and D, or Elder Scrolls or any such RPG, you use the opposite elemental magic attack, fire attack vs frost character. The monster’s clearly a Fire Troll, so the Torch will get nowhere. He’s also lucky it isn’t one from Dark Souls, otherwise in one hit the team would become the Fantastic Three.
  7. I had it literally pointed out to me by someone at a comic mart, a couple of decades ago. I was shocked for days.
  8. In the words of the great Neil Peart… You can choose a ready guide In some celestial voice If you choose not to decide You still have made a choice You can choose from phantom fears And kindness that can kill I will choose a path that’s clear I will choose free will.
  9. I’ve only just noticed Medusa’s hair. Is it attached to something out of shot, a helicopter, perhaps?
  10. Cushioning people from the terrible consequences of warfare, and social or xenophobic prejudice permits reoccurrence. Rather than distancing physically from the historical issue, here by book burning, or by hiding material away from the public in archives, I believe you only get progress by instilling shame, horror, contempt for such issues, which requires the evidence to continue existing, and be easily accessed and confronted and denounced, generation after generation.
  11. In the 1970s it took me the time spent looking at a couple of pages of Frank Robbins art during his Marvel phase to realise he was hacking it.
  12. Whenever I’ve watched a World War 2 documentary about the war at sea and German U-Boats and their submariner sailors were mentioned, the name was always pronounced this way. Exactly the same time period during which Everett created Namor.
  13. Nidavellir is about 10 times more difficult. He doesn’t even get close.
  14. Acceptable if it’s an actual Chinese pronunciation. As a Brit, Shong sounds more like an Americanism.
