  1. Yeah, I get it's a challenge for sure!...I know it's a personal preference thing but to ME I would rather have this 5.0 with these issues on the back any day over lets say a 6.0 book with multiple smaller issues on the cover, corners, etc...This long crease shows up much more prominently on the hi res scan, at viewing distance a few feet away there is only one area on the crease to grab your eye, that said, from what im gathering there is no real mechanism for grading a crease thats lighter vs heavy and more distracting? Ultimately I realize it is what it is and all variations can't be accounted for but hearing the thoughts of people who have been at this a long time does help, so I appreciate the input.
  2. Hi all- I was curious to hear grading thoughts before spending the $ to grade this copy of Sub-Mariner #10 as pictured. It has a date stamp back cover and light spine stress and a corner bump as pictured, I'm trying to verify that the date stamp won't count against it when grading. Thanks!
  3. Hi all- I was curious to hear thoughts before spending the $ to grade this copy of IM #22 with some overall toning and a 1" corner crease as pictured. Thanks!
  4. Ok...I can see that now, The full length crease is pretty light and does look like very faint color breaks along the line in a few spots upon close inspection. That one I think worth showing my local guy before cracking to see what he thinks. I really didn't think that one would drop it to the 7.0 range being so light and back cover but thats why I asked the question...thanks!!!
  5. Nice book...I saw the comments about the grade before I saw the actual grade and was thinking the 9.0-9.4 were a bit harsh...I was thinking 9.6 or outside shot at 9.8 with good press...so even though im a newbie at grading good to know im not totally off base...though I do have a decent pile of 9.4's and 9.6's that I was 100% sure were 9.8's when I sent them in...so what do I know?:)!
  6. Yes, it was pressed...and those 2 pictured are the only ones I can see.
  7. Hi all- 2 nice older books I'm considering grading but both have a few minor? issues so as a newbie CGC submitter I was hoping to get some grading thoughts. The Subby I think is the better book as (I've read) the date stamp won't count against it and with a few little bumps here and there with it being very clean otherwise im hoping 9.2-ish?...The Ironman I'm lost on, some toning, but spine looks really good but has an upper right corner crease as pictured...just not sure how much of a ding thats going to be? Help/opinions would be much appreciated!
  8. Ha! I agree, now who do we try and convince inside the CGC...lets start a petition, you and I make 2 so far:)
  9. Hi all, this is a recent grading that as a newbie to the nuances of CGC grading has me puzzled, this front cover has a few minor tics and 2 corners blunted, back cover upper left has 2 decent creases where if there was color surely would have been broken. But thats it...im thinking crack and re-submit but truly not sure what to do? I was thinking in the 6.5-7.5 range or higher when I compare this to other similar books in 5.0 that frankly look pretty rough. I dunno? Any thoughts?
  10. Hi all, this ones been bugging me enough to have it be the topic of my first post. A few years ago I had the good fortune of purchasing a large collection from an older original owner who bought doubles and sometimes triples of mostly Marvel books from the late 70's to mid 90's and really only thumbed through one copy and bagged boarded the rest.. I had two 328's...one color faded a bit and the other was near perfect. I sent both to CGC and the faded one came back 8.0 the other I had JRJR sign and was shocked to see it come back 9.6 Green label. I have pics of the insert in place but CGC says the actual Tatooz are missing? I know this guy didn't mess with the book, and certainly didn't remove the tats and leave the insert. I was motivated to write about this because I just saw on Ebay where someone has listed a 3x Tatooz "error" book and am thinking if there can be 2 extra error and get a yellow label, then why can't there be a "missing Tatooz" error and still be a yellow label? Unless my tattoos "went missing" when it went in for grading im having a hard time reconciling this one? Curious to hear if anyone else has had this happen?
