  1. Submission 4204196

Need your help. This is the second ME submission for these 2 books. 1st delivery was broken cases with the correct labels. 2nd delivery was slabs intact without the custom labels I ordered (previously paid).

Why would my credit card be charged for labels I already paid for with my initial order?

    Thanks for your help!

  2. No more takers? The answer imo is neither book is a 7.5!

The top book is clearly under graded. That’s a clean book, misses NM due to the scratch on the back. Even so you can’t go lower than 8 - 8.5. The second book may not even be a 7.0. The condition speaks for itself. The back spine is hammered and the front is butter-faced. You don’t want to see a hi-res of that one. I don’t have a dog in this hunt. Maybe trying to point out what everyone here already knows. I see far more grading consistency and consensus in this forum than what’s being produced for consumption.

  3. Here’s a fun game. Which of these (2) 7.5’s is a 7.5? I have my answer but will reserve til opinions/grades are posted. Look these are 2 books currently listed on eBay. Please don’t comment that you can’t grade thru a slab, or that the pics are low res. There is plenty here to digest. If you don’t want to play don’t play. Books are posted front and back / front and back.

  4. CCG Request #178173 - Please provide M.E. email w/ return shipping label. Please provide custom labels I ordered. ME submission #2.

I had this support ticket created yesterday in anticipation of receiving a new ME email with a shipping label. I did not receive it. Instead I received an email asking me to rate the support I received. Guess the need for this follow-up post answers that question?

Original submission I received 5 slabs back, wrapped half- and loose in the box. Resulted in 2 broken 9.8 slabs (top and bottom slabs of the 5). Resubmitted M.E. waited another month and they returned w/ slabs intact. This time without the custom labels. Sending back to CGC again. Hoping 3rd time is the charm. You should really consider throwing 9.9's on them, and a refund for my time would be nice.

Please let me know if you need additional information.

  5. I was recently returned a SS scored an 8.5. I was certain it was a NM copy. Grader notes were "light spine stress and light canvassing". I elected not to press on submission because to my eye there were no pressable flaws. I did note minor stress to the lower spine and was not expecting 9.8, but 8.5 was a surprise (shock actually).

Questions are: Does anyone have a good definition of "light canvassing"? Would light canvassing be corrected with a CCS press? Is this something I should have noticed?

I believe this gets a 2+ score bump if the answer is yes to pressing. If no, I will be happy with my 8.5 because it's probably the most beautiful 8.5 copy in the census. /s - Whether I would choose to re-submit after such strict grading on a 50 year old book is another question. Especially with the SS expense that went into the submission to begin with.

    Thanks in advance.

9.0 with a press. Most of the defects are pressable. What bugs me is that top staple but looks like a manufacturing defect, so shouldn't hurt too much.

Have a strong feeling you’re gonna win this round. The book is really nice. I’m waiting on books to come back but will send this one in on the next and post the result.

You should point out what you feel the main issues with the book are when you post....It's helpful for the graders because without the book in hand it can be difficult to know the exact extent of the issues......

    P.S.  Thanks for posting...

New pics posted. Any guess I had on flaws based on the old pics would have been inaccurate. The tics / creases along the middle back look worse in the pics than to the eye.

  8. The pictures are bad. Sorry to waste everyones time. I was primarily posting based on that back cover wear, but I don’t want to point out defects when I post. What would be the point? I’d be happy w an 8.0 for what I paid. Think the front wear/rub is glare from the bad pics. I still don’t have it in hand. Will be more careful w pics moving onward. Thanks to all!

  9. Full honesty… The great spine, corners, clarity, color, and interior white pages blinded me. Then I got hung up on the hole in Robin’s knee and never noticed the giant holes in the bottom of the book until I paid up. Hit like a gut punch. I paid out $65 for what I thought could still be a solid FN copy. It was a lesson I needed to learn. It’s not easy buying online, because if I was holding her that never would have happened. I’ll keep it whole and “as-is” as a reminder. Like my wife, who I also met online.

  10. I understand. There’s definitely a benefit to getting these experienced opinions but don’t want to let my finds out of the bag either! Need to be more careful w my pics!!! I’m on a buying spree so look forward to posting more.
Thanks much for your time and the grades!
