  1. I am glad I decided to bite the bullet on a CGC 9.4 X-Men to complete the pair just before prices jumped last month. It is not a perfect wrap, and just has OW-W pages, but at least the current filler copy is in place now. I will have to upgrade to a W page and well centered copy sooner than I was planning too.
  2. Copper and Modern X-books will jump as speculative $$$ start chasing the more recent issues now that earlier keys have popped.
  3. In fairness to them, who knew that the market would be as crazy as it is right now. If we did not have COVID and they had been able to launch last April as planned, the market was not as frothy as it currently is and the demand/hype would have been lower. All you need to do is look at the numbers for another no-brainer spec play, Strange Academy, at the time (Comichron estimate is just over 71K copies across 5 covers). Other "hot" Boom or Image books would pop to $20 and that was a nice win.
  4. It is crazy. Mind you, there have been a few swipes of the cover so I guess it is heading to more of a classic cover status now. Good point on Bats #423. I thought I did well a few years back when I sold my two 9.8 CDN newsstand copies for $500 apiece.
  5. Wow. Hulk 340 is now a $100 book in as low as 5.0 according to GPA. The action on it and other hot covers (e.g ASM #301, 316) reminds me of the late 00s/early 10s when ASM 300, NM 98, etc. hit the $100 buy in for low grade copies.
  6. I can see that. Up until 2019, X-Men 1 was dirt cheap and considered a lesser book to GSX 1 by a lot of collectors. It is the opposite for me for one reason - ASM 1 is just the second appearance of Spidey. AF 15 is much more special to hold, and used to be way harder to find. That being said, I sold all of my AF 15s over time as well since I prefer cold hard cash. My X-Men 1s are trending the same way.
  7. I still can't believe a 3.5 hit that, but am really hoping it did. A friend snagged a 9.0 in early Feb for a good price. He will have a nice fat 50%+ profit based on the 8.0 price if he decides to sell. Not bad for 5 mins of work and a 30 day hold.
  8. Don't know if this has been posted here yet, but according to Key Collector Comics, X-Men #4 CGC 3.5 sold for $4K this week? I really hope that is true, as I have a nice 3.5 coming up for auction with Clink. 🏅 #2 on the Hot 10: 1st team appearance of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants led by Magneto 1st appearance of Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver 1st appearance Mastermind, later becomes Jason Wyngarde 1st appearance of Toad 2nd appearance of Magneto Although the Scarlet Witch's costume is colored green on the cover, it is red in the story THIS WEEK’S TOP 3 RECORD BREAKERS [Previous High In Brackets]: 8.0 sold for $8,700 [$7,812 ] +11% 6.5 sold for $4,778 [$3,450 in Feb] +38% 3.5 sold for $4,000 [$2,150 in Feb] +86%
  9. Might be a good time to buy then..... That being said, the Flash TV show is still on CW, right? Maybe these books will get a boost from the next round of movies, but they should start moving up when the gap gets too wide with Marvel SA and BA keys again.
  10. It took a while to take off, but look at Young Avengers as a potential comparable. Right now Marvel and DC are putting out a lot of youth through young adult targeted material that will be tied to other media channels (e.g. TV and film) eventually, so books like this are worth a spec copy or two just in case.
  11. That is a weak 4.5 to begin with, which hurts the price. It looks worse than a lot of 3.5s out there right now.
  12. It is still key, but more of a minor one. The book was red hot before the Inhumans TV show was actually viewed by a few people. That kind of killed it for now. I still think Disney will revisit the Inhumans at some point as a property.
  13. Time to send these in, I guess, based on what mid to lower high grade are fetching now. Too bad I sold off my last 9.8 and last two 9.6s last summer.......
  14. This reminds me of the start of the last big bubble back in 1990 or 1991, so we have a bit of time left. I was only in my mid teens at the time, but it was a fun time to buy and sell comics and sportscards. The best flip I had was selling OPC Premiere hockey card sets at $130 apiece - you got 3 and a half sets per $20 box.
  15. I just tried to do the "laughing" face emoji to your comment (which there's actual truth to btw), and it's gone. Only like, thanks, and cry face... Did I not get the memo? I was not being facetious, just stating a fact that despite all the complaining about turnaround times in this thread, there is a silver lining. Personally, I am fine with the backlog as some of the books I have in for grading have basically doubled the past few weeks. If they were in my hands before then, I would have left a lot on the table. My the COVID cheques mean prices keep running so it will be a 3X+ when I get them back.
  16. I guess the upside from the longer turnaround times is that it prevented us from selling the books that are in for grading before the run up of the past couple of weeks........
  17. Me too. I live in Canada, and the Canadian Price Variant for ASM 238 has proven to be particularly elusive in comparison to all of the other CPV's. All CPVs used to be readily available a decade or so ago in HG, but ASM 238 and GI Joe 21 were two of the toughest to find in 9.0+ since they sold through and the buyers tended to read them.
  18. I have a copy of #1 1st and #1 not first. The question is do you hold for a 1st set of the first four issues or sell now?
  19. According to the Illuminerdi today, and posted in the Movie/TV section, Marvel is starting the development of a movie currently titled "The Mutants". I wonder how much more that will run prices up?
  20. Eww "not 1st prints". Greg - you need to stick to speculating on the older stuff so you don't get burned on modern stuff like this..............
  21. No, but I know my file store had a deadline at some point that you had to add the books to your file. Not sure if that was internal for the LCS or something for the 100.
  22. Why does that matter if they ordered it? So they did intentionally create an allocated / short print? I am just wondering if it did. I will ask my file LCS on Saturday - they were one of the 100 and their order was fine as far as I know. And, did the store that did not get one order before FOC? Or, like we saw with SW HR 1, stores clued in after the fact and tried to order them post FOC.
  23. One last bump before this thread closes. I am open to offers on all remaining books.
  24. Was he one of the original 100 stores that they were working with on the launch?
  25. Old label CR-OW was more strict than what it is now. This may be OW to OW-W by today's standards.
