  1. I have a ( The Maxx ) poster that I purchased through the Hero Initiative. Each poster is signed by Sam Kieth and William Loebs. They are serial numbered to only 200.

1- Since they are only offered being signed at the Hero Initiative does that mean it being sent in will be a qualified grade?

2- When shipping a poster in to CGC is it best to ship in a cardboard poster tube?

  2.  Finally mine is getting shipped out today! It seems like forever since I've even seen this book. Sent it out back in July to get the Rob Liefled auto. While waiting for it to be done from the they announced that Jim Lee was signing so same day it returned from Liefled had to submit for Lee.

All I need is for Sam Kieth to come out of retirement!!!🙏🙏🤞

Don't understand why there is such a long delay from the time CGC tells you the deadline date to have your items in till the time of signing event.

    Hello @Flufy12345

Thank you for reaching out to us. Manufacturing defects are not uncommon and the graders do take this into account when grading. In general, a manufacturing defect will affect the grade of a card less than any damage that has occurred to the card post-manufacture. The extent to which any manufacturing defect may affect the grade will depend on the type and extent of the defect and determining this requires an in-hand evaluation by the graders. It is important to note that a card with a manufacturing error cannot receive a Pristine 10 grade.

If you have any other questions, please let us know.

Here is an example same card just one with and without line.

I do understand that it would in no way get a 10. My question is just how hard of a hit would it receive? If card came in without print line an grade 9.5 an same card come in with the line take a hit by .-.5,-1,or -1.5. would like to have an idea before I get my hopes up. Thanks

Only asking for an option based on examples

  4. I have a set of the Upper Deck 1999 Spx football that I am considering sending in for grade. Some of the cards have a faint line in the background where during the manufacturing the foiling rolls join together. The cards are immaculate on the surface, corners and all else. My question is will these cards with the lines be hit with a lower grade even though they are manufactured with said line?

    Thanks and Merry Christmas

  5.   I have a DARKER IMAGE red ashcan that has been sent in for a Rob Liefled signature and at this moment in my submission timeline it says waiting for grading. CGC just announced Jim Lee will be signing. Will my comic make it back in time to resubmit for Lee or what to do?      And second Jim Sinclair is a colorist on Darker Image is value added getting with Lee during same SS event?

  6. As a newbie I have been collecting Sam Keith's The Maxx. Both in the newsstand and the subscription versions and have come across some of the World Comics, Spain issues. Is there any information on these Spanish books? Collectivity? And also, when it comes to grading why are newsstand and subscriptions only recognized as different in only 2-3 issues? Would love to have a complete graded set of each but there not recognized.  Would love to hear some info and advice

  7. In my quest to build a complete The Maxx 1-35 I have been acquiring both the subscription versions and the newsstand. The question is if , CGC in their census is only recognizing The Maxx 1 and 21 newsstand editions and (seen) slab labeling , does it make sense in sending both versions of each comic for grading if them being different doesn't count and stand out from one another?

  8.  As a first time submitter I have sent in a red Darker Image ashcan in to be signed by Rob Liefled. It's in perfect condition and includes the Maxx tape still unopened and intacted. Question is will CGC cut the tape or can they inspect it without doing so? Would love for it to not have seal broken.
