Those 2 lines are the actual staples you’re seeing - I’ve never seen staples so offset - quite a pity re: oxidation, because I don’t think this book has ever been read.

On the back of the book it looks like distributor ink. Reddish. I’ve seen similar markings on other #2 books as well. Maybe I’ll just send it in for grading…?
