  1. I hope I am not being overly critical of a beautiful looking book, but the interior pages extend so far from the cover's edge that I can only think that it has received a rather aggressive pressing (shrug) and that bottom left front cover is just a hair's breadth from slab damage.

Someone will need to be very delicate with this beauty. :shy:

I had a similar thought when I saw that right edge. It just doesn't look right at all.

.....ASM 9 is common with pages extending.....check the HA archives for reference......a perfectly centered and aligned copy is tough. GOD BLESS...

mine has extended pages to a lesser degree too bad you can't tell from the scan that they are about as bone white as i have ever seen in a silver age book...

Yup mine has pages extending too...

  2. 9.2 ow-w

I really need to clean the glass on my scanner.

AWESOME! :applause: Is that the one that just sold on ComicConnect?

Found a scan of that copy and verified that the recent ComicConnect auction was indeed the source . Nice pickup! :applause: The larger scan from ComicConnect's web site is below.

I think I saw this copy at a local con circa 2002 or 2003 and seriously considered buying it. It ended up selling in a national auction I believe, trying to remember which one. The one I saw was definitely an old label 9.2 with ow/w pages and an extremely similar wrap. It had a sticker on the slab bag of $37K at the time which would've been a record price paid for grade, and I know it ended up selling for less but I can't remember the final price...somewhere from $29K to $35K I think.

Met up with Steve and had an opportunity to hold the book in my hand today. :cloud9:

It is a glorious copy. Incredible centering and near perfect corners.

I didn't want to put it down (and it find it's way into my bag for a minute or two hehe) and literally stared at it for 15 minutes as we talked.

    Congrats again Steve.

That is an absolutely AMAZING SPIDER-MAN. (worship)

  3. Ringmaster first appeared in Hulk 3 and Beetle was ST 123.....The circus crew is at least partially new.....I'm on the fence about them. Still, I can't think of many other characters who had so many additions to their Rogue's Gallery as quick as Spidey....with the Shocker and Kingpin from Romita's run....we have at least 20 firsts in the first 50 issues...mighty "amazing". GOD BLESS....

Yup I'm kinda biased myself but I agree that the run from 1-50 is incredible and defines the Silver Age! :cloud9:

To me it puts Avengers, X-Men, TOS and Thor to shame....

And so do the prices we pay to get them. doh!

  4. Can't believe I missed this thread doh!

ASM #14 is by far my favorite ASM and one of the books I'm willing to go the extra mile for. I've owned about 10 copies over the past 5 years and always either traded or sold them.

I held on to these two because of the good eye appeal for the grade and the PQ (yeah I'm turning into a PQ whore as well  )

But ever since I traded away my CGC 7.5 OW/W I have been wanting to step it up a little...and then I found this one :cloud9:

Congrats everyone on your books, nice to see so many different copies all together.

VERY nice Chromium.... looks just like mine! But it's not my favorite ASM.... I'm a sucker for #50

  5. Your comics are beautiful, Bruno. I need to seek your advice about scanning. lol! The colors are so vibrant!

I clearly need to re-scan parts of my collection. Here's another later Ditko Spidey. Spidey35.jpg

And this image will speak for itself I think. DITKOLETTER.JPG

    Thanks!

Since I'm not a photoshop freak using the free picture editor that comes with Picasa I have found that if you increase the "Highlight" under the Tuning section just a little (not too much) then you can get the colors to represent themselves closer to the real thing.

  6. I actually found an HP Scanjet 8300 on kijiji today for $100!!

Still available for sale at $500 on hp.com so will work fine on Windows 7.

Going to pick her up tomorrow morning before someone else scoops it up. :acclaim:

Picked it up and tried out my first scan. Picasa auto fix setting looks pretty natural to me. Not much I can do about the reflection under Man Wolf.
