  1. Hoping the 9.4 I got from you gets back to me before the next decade lol Looks great with a sig.

I'll be honest with you. That 9.8 sig is not pretty....I did notice that most of Kieth's sigs from '13 were pretty rushed looking and squiggly, but that one....ouch.

Nonetheless, its still a Kieth signature on an extremely rare prototype comic and since its the only one with his signature in 9.8, I feel it should command some real decent coin.

Good luck with it!! (thumbs u

  2. Thanks, I remember discussing it, but not the particulars.

I think your 9.8 SS is up for sale already ;)

    No problem.

Yes I saw that. It looks nice. I think, being that its a 9.8 and signed by Kieth I feel it should be worth more than the current price, but then again I'm a little biased.

    Hope the best.

There are only two 9.8's and I sold my 9.6 universal for $2K just a little while back.

  3. Reading other threads about print runs and the rarity of run exclusives/variants makes me wonder how we came to be with the blue/red foil Wizard 1/2

How did those figures come about that only 10 of each were ever made. We do have concrete proof that 6 blues and 2 reds exist, but that's really all we've got.

I think I remember a boardie who had gotten those himself had stated the publisher told him only 10 of each were made, but I am unsure.

Yes, I purchased the 2 red and 6 blue from Wizard's website back in the day. Their site stated "limited to 10 worldwide."

I sold my 9.6 Blue a little while back. I only have the CGC 9.8 left which will available shortly.

Yes, someone at the Wizard booth at Wizard World Philly many years ago told me that they were limited to 10 copies.

Is this a Adventures of Superman #498 5th printing? I didn't see any mention of it in this thread.

It was in an eBay listing that ended close to $100 for a sealed pack:

4th print. Being the funeral AND the doomsday run in the same pack with later prints, buyer has a good shot at a Mos 18 4th/5th.

    It was a MOS #18 5th print

    Congratulations! (thumbs u

Thanks... I was really excited when I found a MOS #20 2nd print.

    Congrats!

Did the pack contain an AC #686 2nd and AOS #499 3rd? If so and you don't need or want them I would be happy to trade or buy them from you.

Thanks, but unfortunately both of those books weren't in the pack. I was hoping that they were but nonetheless I'm happy with what I found.

  8. Walkind Dead #132 was a Loot Crate month anyways. 326k copies of Alpha's first app. floating around.

Yes, so how many of those were the ugly Loot Crate cover and how many were the regular cover? hm

My guess would be about 260k loot crate, rest regular cover.

    I found this on Comichron.

(Items marked with asterisks had their reported orders slightly reduced due to returnability.

† Walking Dead #132's orders reportedly reflect as many as 250,000 copies ordered in a one-time purchase by a single retailer, the online pop culture sales club Loot Crate.)

  9. Check me if I'm wrong, but do the pictures (both the front and back cover) of this book look like the spine has been photoshopped (blurred)?

    hm

That IS my book and I can tell you that your are incorrect. There is no type of photo manipulation done on it. I don't roll like that. I scanned it at 300dpi. If you see something fishy in the photo, it is probably my printer.

All I can tell you is that I'm probably

one of the most honest people in this hobby/business. It can be a crutch sometimes but thats my disposition. I'm not a game player. I offer decent product, decent prices with excellent shipping practices.

    Awesome!!!

Thank you for clarifying that - I really appreciate it!

    Not a problem... :)

  11. When was the last time someone got really jazzed about "2nd appearance overall"...? I can't recall that label designation on any CGC slabs, or any books that have appreciated in value as a result.

    X-Force #2? (shrug)

Sure, this is now paying off well to everyone that held that book for 23 years. :)

What's the rate of return on the original investment after holding a worthless book for 23 years until someone actually cares? I don't know about you, but I prefer my flips a little bit quicker than that.

This statement pretty much sums it up.

Who says you have to hold on a book like x-force #2 for 23 years to be profitable, I picked up 8 of them 6 months ago at a local "special" comic show where countless books can be had for a quarter each. I even grabbed multiple copies of x-factor 5 & 6, infinity gauntlets 1-6, tales of teen titans 44.

The show was yesterday and I picked up a ton of Youngblood 3 spawn 3D and full high grade runs of 1980's DC Comics all at a quarter each.

You got to know where to look!!!

  12. The way I see it when a character is 1st introduced it is the 1st appearance. That is what 1st appearance means.... Appeared for the 1st time. Whoever started this cameo nonsense should be fired. I feel the reason the market decides on what is 1st app., is who has the many copies of that book who wants that specific issue to be the 1st appearance to profit from.

The word cameo should be changed to "1st introduced".

  13. Did you know, the red and blue Maxx 1/2s were offered on Wizard's website around 2007 for $10 or so each...?

    True story.

Actually, they were on Wizard's website for $49.99 not $10.00 when I purchased them. And yes they stated limited to 10. I also confirmed it when I attended a Wizard World Philly Con years ago

when I approach a gentleman at the Wizard booth with a blue and red in hand. He actually called up one of the owners of Wizard who confirmed he remembers that they were limited to 10 copies.

So there you have some data and history of these rare gems.

You know that's just hearsay, right...?

The same can be said about what you posted

That's right...that's why I used language that expressed that, rather than stating it as fact.

The question wasn't what you paid for them....the question is whether they were really "limited to 10."

You, and I, have it on hearsay. "I heard from a guy who heard from a guy that they were limited to 10."

While that's certainly possible, it may not be very likely, especially considering printing technology and requirements of 1993. Even the "limited to X" books always have additional copies printed, to account for potential spoilage.

Were there only 10, ever, and not a single one more, or less, made?

    Maybe.

Your correct with the heresay and also about the way publishers print limited to X comics but those books are normally made to be distributed to the public. The red and blue 1/2 were in house test printing samples not made for the public. Used to pass around the office per say.

Wizard probably had these lying around when they decided to sell off the rest of the other 1/2's. I recall that website being well organized before it went down hill hard.
