CSG.....oops CGC, definitely has the best slabs in the business and it isn't even close, but the constant label changes is an issue. Switching from the hideous green to the current version was a good move even though the green didn't actually look as bad in person as it does in pics. The problem that I see is switching from CSG to CGC in name. It will affect searches and ebay listings and now I'll have 3 completely different labels in my CSG boxes. I'll continue to support CSG and grade cards here exclusively for the speed, the price and the awesome slab, but it stings to know that I've spent a TON of money on slabs that are now obsolete as far as the label is concerned. It kind of reminds me of the Beckett BGS and BVG labels with various colors for grade levels. I hated that. I'll probably send in some of my previous 10 Pristine green labels to get the new fancy gold label, but I can't justify the extra expense for the rest no matter how badly I would like for all of my slabs to be the same. I've already done that once going from green to black to bump 9.5s to 10s. Oh well. Don't get me wrong, I'm still probably CSG's biggest fan and proponent. I can't say enough about the customer service and slab quality. I'll get used to this change eventually. Now let's get some oversized slabs and some after market autograph authentication.

Just to clarify, you weren't one of the people in the focus groups?  I assumed that CSG (RIP 6/20/2023) would have reached out to their #1 Top Collector in terms of Points and # of slabs in their collection.  You rave about customer service but I just can't reconcile that on your behalf if you weren't brought into the conversation.  Here I was feeling slighted at lowly #41...lol.  It's honestly all good for me but my son Tyrus loved CSG.  To say he is disappointed is an understatement.  First world problems I know...

  2. Hello,

I did want to see if I can get a couple of corrections to be made to the Hank Aaron Player Registry Set.

The following card is listed twice (slots #64 and #68): #473 1973 O-Pee-Chee All-Time Total Base Leader Hank Aaron

The following card is the same as another card in the CSG Registry set: #14 2000 Topps Hank Aaron (slot #108) = #14 2000 Topps Aaron Reprints Hank Aaron '67 Topps (slot #115)

Please let me know if the above is unclear or if I can add additional color.

    Thank you in advance.

  3. Thank you Maribeth for the quick response.  I'm happy to hear that.  I have plenty of time as picking up the '51 Mantle and Mays will take some time...

I do want to thank the team there for the speed of adding new slots.  I am seeing turnaround times < 2 days now, which is awesome.  Happy collecting all!

  4. Is it possible to create BB HOF registry sets in the CSG Registry?  Some of the most active registry sets on the other large graded/authentication card site are related to BB HOF players.

I would love to participate in a Post War HOF RC Registry Set here.  I'm pursuing it and adding items to my inventory but would even just like a way to catalog internally if there is no appetite to create a CSG Registry specific to it.  I know some think the BB HOF is getting watered down with the veteran's committee selections, so would even think we could do a First Ballot BB HOF RC Registry Set.  From the 50-70's there is only once card per player to have so it's pretty straight forward to build the requirements.  I think this could be a way to encourage others to grade more vintage as well.  Just an unsolicited thought.  Appreciate your consideration.

That is great to hear. When were your request put in?

I don't keep perfect records on when I request slots but my best estimate is late August.  I know they recently added some more support staff and I'm definitely seeing progress.  The Registry is critical for long-term success of the brand.

  6. Hello all. I wanted to start a thread to chronicle the journey my son Tyrus and I are just starting on. We are going to collect cards from Hank’s playing days to present day. We will forgo 1/1’s and autos but everything else is fair game. Feel free to hit us up if you have any CSG slabbed Hank’s you are looking to move as well as pics of your favorite Hank cards. Good luck to the other folks adding Aaron CSG slabbed cards. We have requested several slots to be added and will continue to do so. Happy Collecting!
