ComicConnoisseur got a reaction from 1950's war comics in JOKER: THE MOVIE produced by Martin Scorsese (TBD)
Yep. I think it won't quite be the hit like the Joker but it will make bank. DC really has turned it around.
Next I hope I finally get my Lobo and Deathstroke movies.

Other than the massive box office and that they both star characters that originated in comic books, I suspect he would argue that they are very dissimilar:  Joker is a character driven film about one man's descent into madness and the MCU are CGI-fests with little connection to the real world- even if his original commitment wasn't consummated. IMO, with the exception of BP (which really has something to say), the MCU movies are expertly crafted entertainments and immediately forgettable. There may be some sour grapes here as The Irishman, the likely favorite (prohibitive favorite?) to win Best Picture but for the fact that it's being "distributed" by Netflix, will barely be seen in theaters.

And with a $70 million production budget, this will be another one that doesn't take look to be profitable.

If the reaction on social media (Twitter and Facebook especially) are any indication of how Birds of Prey will play out at the box office, we may be surprised. It trending rapidly once that teaser dropped, and held there for some time.
I'm not there yet on this film. So it's not for me right now.

No. He had planned to, and then dropped out of executive producing Joker July of 2018 to free himself for The Irishman.

Most likely will get a box office bump because Harley mentions Joker in the trailer and people will think the Joker is in it in away.

This movie could open up an all new way of doing superhero movies with a more mature mood, reaching out for more adult people.

wasn't all that thrilled with the preview shown for  Birds of Prey - not that it's any indication of whatever the film turns out to be.  i did like Margot's Harley portrayal in the Suicide Squad movie.  This has nothing to do with comics, but they also showed a preview for a movie based on Harriet Tubman's life which looked quite good.

Aquaman benefited massively due to China's incredible strong response ($298.3 million). It very much is a huge gap not having that market open to a Joker release.

When Lord & Miller came out with their Spider-Man film portfolio analysis and pointed out they have around 900 characters that can be pulled into these films at any given time, that is huge what can come together here.
If Sony learned from the past, though. I recognize those fumbles that have occurred.

Wow the Joker crushed Aquaman in the UK!.
I wonder if Alan Moore`s influence over the years helped make the Joker popular in the UK?

Also why would Sony sell Spider-Man  now
if Venom and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse were big hits?
Not to mention this was the biggest hit on the Sony Playstation in a long time

They could introduce knull as well, and merge the multiverse aka miles Morales and Spidergwen. They have so many interesting storylines. A gamble that might really pay off.

The Man of Steel world wide box office = 668 million USD
Wouldn't that be something if the Joker beat Superman at the box office?
Just goes to show that the modern audience`s taste has changed.
