Pure luck, man. Someone put up a buy it now for $20 and I nabbed it once I saw it.
He seemed a bit shocked that it sold so quickly haha.

Best $20 I've spent in awhile

I was fortunate enough to pick up one of the HC signed TMNT 1 special editions (out of 500) on a ridiculously cheap BIN last week. I'll have to post a picture tonight.
When I got it into my hands, it reminded me that I really need to replace my TMNT 1 first print.
Peter Palmer: Your collection is amazing!

Picked this up recently. Bill was nice enough to give me a certificate and signed the interior cover. It's hysterical and of poor taste at the same time.
Thanks Stephan for brokering the deal!

That didn't take long:
My guess is half of the previous auctions?
(they are not my copies)

I've been M.I.A. on the boards due to some insane months at work and just now read what these books sold at auction. I never imagined that they would go for that much.
I almost had to sell my set due to some unforeseen student loan issues (thankfully they were resolved). I'm really glad I didn't.

But actually this:

Danny, if you ever say "hey, i just have way too many pieces of early TMNT art." I'd be more than happy to take that #11 cover art off of your hands.

Ok so I know Danny and I announced the transition of his Turtlemania Gold book to me quite some time ago... The deal had been ongoing for the better part of a year. However; i am pleased to say that today it is official. I now have the book in hand.

Nice copy!
I actually sold mine on ebay, so unless the buyer decided to resell it on CLINK, I think it's a different copy.
The copy I owned also had color breaking creases, so I don't think it could really be pressed, but who knows.

Man, seeing all of these TMNT 1 makes me regret selling my 9.0 last year.

My first GA purchase
Thanks Rick!

Six years ago, I sold all my comics and original comic art to start my business.
A month ago, I accidentally got into this forum and was reminded that my favorite childhood heroes had a comic book. I kinda knew that they had a comic when I was younger. However, it was soon forgotten because the comic was out of my price range at that time.
So I spent nights reading all the TMNT posts on the forum and constantly harassing other forum members for their knowledge and advice.
After weeks of research and finally coming to a conclusion of what grade I should get, the exact comic show up on the bay a couple days later.
And without further delay, I introduce my first comic in 6 years and first slabbed book ever, my first TMNT #1:
Thank you to all the members who took the time to pm me back and answer all my questions.
Very nice man and congrats!

Mega kudos go out to Danny (TMNT) for helping me get a grail of mine. I try not to use the word "grail" very often, but as far as TMNT comics go, I'm not sure how else do describe these. At last, my very own set of Gobbledygook #1 and #2.
<---me when these arrived
Thanks Danny!

An unrestored 6.5 just popped up on ComicConnect today for $5k. You bet your I grabbed it as quick as I could. Going to be part of the club very shortly here!
Nice! I was soooo close to hitting the BIN for that. It was going to be my first big silver age purchase, but I just wasn't ready for tht large of an outlay. You got that book for a STEAL.

Peter, that is a great set!

Hey everyone, I just had to post my latest acquisition. Danny was nice enough to help me complete my set of Gobbledygooks!
-
Haha, man, I still think I have their cassette tape somewhere.
-
Has anyone noticed the prices that TMNT 1 (raw) have been hitting on ebay? They seem super high to me...

Nice books (thumbs u

I think the movie is going to put the turtles back into the limelight a bit. But, besides that initial movie bump, I don't see the prices being affected that much. I think the long-term factor is changes in demographics. If people who read comics in the 80s-90s come back into the hobby, TMNT should pick up steam. Also, if some of the silver/gold collectors decide to venture into copper, I think you could see an uptick in prices. It's pretty unanimous among collectors that TMNT 1 is the most important copper book (if not most important, it's at least on everyone's copper key list).

By the way, welcome to the boards. This place has a ridiculous amount of information.

That's my guess, too. It's going to be crazy watching the auction go down.
