I also think this book would be in the low 9.0's without the stain.  CGC HATES stains, so this would probably be around 8.0.  If you're comfortable with a little peroxide/blue light treatment, those stains could easily be knocked out.

I've got a decent FF#49 from my childhood PC that I was about to send in for grading.  My question is about a grease pencil mark on the front cover (see second pic).  There is a big "6" written on the top right of the front cover, which I believe was a price markdown by the newsstand.  I believe this was pretty routine back in the day, but I was wondering how this would affect the potential grade.  In my unprofessional opinion, I believe this book would be around a 6 otherwise.  This book has never been touched.  No cleaning or pressing (yet).  There is some slight tanning on the back cover, but I'm not sure if it worth trying to clean it.  Thoughts?

Agree with Shadroch on this one.  That big spine tick will probably hold this one back to around a 7-7.5.  $100 extra for a graded 8.5 is easy money..

Here are some images of the front and back covers.  If the overspray is considered a manufacturing defect, I think I have a good shot at a 9.2/9.4.  Agreed?  The biggest issue I see is the ~1/8" color-breaking spine tick in the third picture.  All the corners are nice and square.

Hello.  I just acquired my first ASM #238 and I was considering sending it in for grading.  It is in very good shape (9.4 - 9.6), but it does have what appears to be overspray at the top and bottom of the front cover (see pics).  It is yellow ink, similar to what is in the ASM title graphic.  From my limited research, this may be a problem with quite a few ASM #238 issues.  My question is would this manufacturing defect (?) negatively affect my potential grade?  Has anyone else had this issue before?

Quick question.  I've got a very nice looking Captain America #200 that is almost perfect, with the exception of a missing staple.  It is obvious from looking at the spine that it has never had a lower staple.  There are no holes or other evidence that a staple was ever there.  I guess the staple machine in question ran out of staples sometime during the run.  Would I get dinged for this on a grading or would this just be considered a manufacturing defect?  If so, what would be the top end grade I could get with this manufacturing defect?  Thanks.
